    Re: Just an Observation

What makes this board unique for me is the generally positive tone of the posts. Sure we have squabbles (look higher in this thread) but this is for the most part a positive place to visit. Peter and Jim have taken pains to set the rules to try and make it so. I've been a proponent of this being a more freewheeling forum, but I have to admit this place works the way it is.

The mega-hit sites like bass fishing home page have turned into little more than a flamefest where a number of punks/jerks lurk around and pounce on every single post with venomous personal attacks and such.

I occassionaly get in the mood to go over there and do some hookin, jabbin, and jousting, because it's always deeply satisfying to lambast some twit in desperate need of a beat down.

But I always come back here where I like it best.

I deleted some posts. They were getting personel so I excercised the "mother rule". If your mother wouldn't like it, don't post it.

Positive works for me. Where to catch fish and talk about it if you can't get to the water.

Thanks for the kind words. There are a number of folks that post on this site that very good at fishing and teaching. I have been on this site basically since the it's beginning...even before I decided to become a bass guide. Now if that doesn't date me nothing does...lol. Overall a good bunch of folks here, every now and then a nut or two comes along but generally over time they do themselves in...there is one working on it right now...lol. You will notice there are a lot more folks that visit the threads than post...the silent majority lives here too like on many sites.

I think one reason this Board has the traffic it does is that there are a lot of smallmouth fishermen. We are fanatical by nature.

    Re: Just an Observation

I live and fish in TN.
Since I began reading the Tennessee board last year I have noticed a significant drop off. The biggest reason I think is the previous users were not learning new information, not initiating disccusions, and have since stopped visiting the site as often. Newer user such as myself are less likely to post new discussions because of the lack of response. Its a circle, less post equal less response, less response equal less post. As a result we goto other boards like this one in search of topics and to hear others (like us) discuss their experiences and news.

Example: I posted a thread labeled "Shad Farm" in hopes of getting some insight on the behavior of shad in the creeks during winter. The last I checked the post had been read over 150 times, but no response. Its hard for me to believe that none of the "hardcore" striper fisherman that posted in the past have nothing to say.

Fish tend to think the same no matter what state.

    Thanks for the threads Kentucky!

    Matthew
