Went to Herrington yesterday afternoon and fished 3:30P til almost dark. Jigged 1.5" white tubes and chart/red tubes and caught 8 keepers. Also had a bluegill and 3 small hybrids. Our biggest crappie went about 13"... That was my first trip out in over a month so I really enjoyed myself. Hope to FNF C-Land this weekend.
Nice report, Paprjaw.
I have been wanting to go to H-ton but I thought it might still be muddy. Which part of the lake were you on? Also, out of curiosity were the crappies blacks or whites? I mostly winter crappie fish Cumberland but now I might have to find somewhere closer to home because of the new drawdown.
Fished up near the dam and in Rocky Fork (water was fairly clear)... Find the shad on the graph and the crappie, spots and hybrids are close by. 6 of the crappie were blacks and had 2 white. Those crappie at Herrington are picky but you can catch some real monsters on certain days.
My cousin fishes it more than I do. He has caught several over 2 pounds and a couple pushing 3. now is a good time to go. Mid April produces the big fish.
How deep were you fishing?
