from the antenna. If it is a hockey puck antenna, Cabelas sells a mounting plate for under the gps mount that allows you to mount it directly behind the gps unit.

    Item # 2UG-010090 $19.99

Position of the antenna but that is usually only a max of a foot or 2 difference. And in GPS its all about feet not inches so it does'nt make a big difference just make sure the antenna has nothing blocking it.

    Re: GPS question ??

thanks for the replys...the reason I'm asking is right now I am marking stuff with a hand held GPS. When the water comes back up and I go back in the boat I want to be able to find my spot with driving over top it.
Question#2: Would you mount antenna more towards the front, center or rear of the boat?

Mount the antenna where it has the most unobstructed view of the sky. I put mine in the corner of the back deck.

As someone said earlier, GPS is all about feet, not inches. All GPS units have a margin of error of at least a few feet.

I also use a Handheld that I mark way points with when the water is low and transfer them to the boat unit. It works well for me.

    Hey Dude,
Thought that you had fallen off the face of the earth. Saw you went to Dale and had a little fun. Stay in touch.

Thanks Jerry..... I'm new to the GPS thing and I'm trying to cut down on search time during tournament hours. I have looked for stuff before for up to a half hour.

It will save u lots of time, But u must realize that there is a + or - in feet the unit will usually tell you what it is. Good Luck.

I've mounted mine behind the drivers seat on the fiberglass. Its epoxied in and wont move. I get good signals pretty much everywhere.
