    Re: Depth finder help.

I was getting ready to post the same thing - after all the talk of being able to see a drop shot rig and such with most depth finders. Mine is set right now where I can't even tell if there is structure there or not, I have a Humminbird Matrix 17. Any help would be appreciated,

    Re: Depth finder help.

you should be able to get info from the maufacturer.I have a cheap cuda 168 and i can manually set it so i can see my bait,i havn't tried a crappie jig but a 1\2 oz jiggin spoon is easy,i can even see a crankbait come up.make sure your transducer is aiming where the lure is, in deep water the angle of the boat setting in the water will caue the bait to not be in the cone the whole depth,i have mine on the trolling motor loose enough to adjust accordingly, set your sensitivity so high the screen is virtually black then lower it until you can see the lure and don't have a lot of clutter.it will not work with fish i.d mode on.of course the more pixels and better quality finder the better pic you get.
