Been without landline and internet for about 24 hrs. Dog decided to use the phone line as a chew toy (Anybody interested in a very large, phone line loving, cork (loomis & fenwick are his favorites) chewing, garage door destroying black lab just give me a call. I'm not hard to deal with right now on price! As a matter of fact, I'll buy you a bag of food, and the gas to come pick him up!

Fred from Conley Bottom called this morning at 8 AM concerning the upcoming Fishers of Men event. The ramp is not in very good shape, but he is working to get gravel spread to allow bassboats to launch. There will be no loading with the big motors until the new slab is poured and in place. They can't really do anything till the water stops, probably around Monday.

He will do his best to get it ready, and thats about all we can ask for.

I've waited and watched the forecast for several days, with the closing ramps really playing into holding events. See the tournaments board for details concerning upcoming events on Cumberland.

Someone has sent me pics of ramps I suppose, my email says I have 12MB to download. I'll have to wait and let it download tonight, I will tie up my phone line for several hours, lol. Wish I could get high speed internet, lol!

Any other information that comes in will be posted here.

    Don

    Re: Ramps Closed

Was at the Conley ramp a few minutes ago and they're working on it with a dozer. Should be good to go soon. I also drove down the ramp at the Conley campground, and it seemed to be ok. I don't know how much further into the water the ramp goes beyong what you can see, but as far as I could tell, you could launch a boat there. I would ask Charlie before doing so though.

I also was at the Pumpkin Ck ramp today. I drove all the way to the ramp and didn't see any rock slide. The ramp itself is very rough though. But, with 4wd and a real itch to fish, I'd put in there. The sign out on 127 says it's closed though.

    Talking Re: Ramps Closed

I heard that concrete trucks were at Conley today. Everything is going to be good. Worst case scenerio a few pleasure boaters stay away this summer.

Wow, that would be really bad

    Re: Ramps Closed

Just left Conley bottom at 10;30 am 2/8/07 and the ramp is CLOSED. The gravel that was being spread was for the house boat that they TRIED to launch there yesterday.TRUCK BOAT AND ALL got stuck .Had to have a wrecker pull it out. The men that work for the dock said QUOTE..."Everyone is working on moving the docks and changeing the electric over. The ramp is last on the list. They where told that they didn't know when they would even start on it" He did say they where going to pour more concrete but you can bet that won't happen until one of two things occurs. 1. They get Government funding because they haven't made enough already from a taxpayers project. or 2.it is getting close to tourist season and their grant funds are still tied up in red tape. I feel for them that they are in some what of a plight . BUT where are all the ramp fees they have charged the last 5 yrs. They told everyone that that is what it went for......
Of course if you call the "office people" they will tell you what they think you want to hear.Opening soon !!! I hope I am wrong but don't see it happening
AS for the camp ground ramp it is still in the water , but the dock workers are using it and don't think you can put in there.

    Re: Ramps Closed

HALCOMB'S IS CLOSED!!!!! They closed it Jan. 29th,that is where the concrete plant is going to be for the reconstruction of the dam. They are building a new ramp on the backside of the island/peninsula there, however, it won't be done until August. Here is a run down of the Lower Cumberland ramp situation on the Jamestown side:

    StateDock/Pumpkin: Closed for repair.

    Jamestown: Down to one lane

    Lilly Creek: Not usable.

Alligator 1 and 2: Dry Land

Pleasent Hill: Not sure if it is accessible, however I feel a smaller boat with 4X4 truck could get in there.

Bent Hill (Caney): I was told by a reliable source it was accessible.

Purdy Hill (Caney): I have no idea. It is in deep water, but not sure about length of the ramp.

Here's a picture of the pumpkin ck ramp as of yesterday. Like I said, it's kind of rough, but I could get a boat in. (I hope this picture works)
