For one thing, it's too dang cold for this old buzzard to be on the river. How close to the falls? We anchor as close to the lower **** as the current allows, and throw towards the dam. Up river by the Museum is great also. I for one have to wait till the weather gets ablove freezing.

Too cold for me to fish in too, and I thought we were supposed to see warmer temps this week (low 40's)??? I might give it a try anyway soon if the water remains stable after Mondays expected rains. Still doing some post duck season rigging to turn the boat back into a fish machine so who knows when I'll venture out. As far as where ... sauger, up by the upper dam is a good bet.

I like the variety of fish to be found in the river, that's for sure. What I don't like is the crowd that gathers during the Sauger runs. Talk about a rude bunch of rock huggin', trash droppin', disrespectful, poor excuse for fisherman. It's the same every Fall and Spring. Don't get me wrong, I'm not above going down there and have quite of bit of fun at times. But when the crowds show up, get in a boat or stay home!

I know many of the Ohio River ramps aren't very good due to getting silted over so if we were to bring our boat which ramp would be the best to use? I know where the barge is stuck so where would be the best place to try from there? Want to start learning the river so any info is appreciated, Thanks.

Louis and clark is a dangerous ramp do to the angle of the ramp in conjuction with the lower dam,and the corp of eng. running different amounts of water there. I use the ramp at the ampitheater by the sherman miton bridge, but stay to the right if you are looking down the ramp, the left side is eroded out do to river current..On down is the 111 boat ramp its big and nice compared to the others but becarefull its out in the middle of know where and I've heard of alot of break ins....hope this helps chuck.

Thank Riverrat. I am not familiar with the area enough to know where the ampitheater or the Sherman Miniton bridge is. Where is this from the Fall Park? Thanks.

The sherman M. bridge is 64 to st louis as you go over it look down to the right and you will see a big yellow tent like structure ...this is the ampitheater.Get off at the 1st exit after the bridge come to the light take a right as soon as you can.You might try map quest for better directions I come from the other way harder to explain I've been going there so long I don't no the names of the roads...its IND.Ones you see the big tent you'll have a good idea were it's at I want to say you go to 10th street. not sure By the way its best to go with someone who knows this area....very dangerous for you and your lower unit! I'm down there every week and can show you the safe way to get all the way to the upper dam if you would like I can meet you down there sometime.Show you some holes ...water level permiting...you can keep up with them @ 775-5056...keep in touch if your interested..Chuck RR12

Hey onemore... missed this earlier this week, but anytime you've got room, I'd be ready to go! Heck, I'm ready to run into riverrat or art down on the banks! I might try and go tomorrow and Sunday just to wet a line if anything... never been before.
