    Re: JamesTown Ramp

    Hello Billy:
it was a warning. I knew they would not be back in 4 hrs. what they did not say was they had their trucks and trailers sticking out into the traffic lane on the ramp and were in a 5 min loading zone. We let fisherman use the boat rental lot across from the guard shack during the winter to park their trucks and trailers so they will not have to walk so far. the ramp area is off limits year round. there is a large 10ft x 15 ft sign across from the guard shack stating "no trailer parking allowed on the ramp." Thanks again and please let me know if i can help the guys in any way. I can be reached at ext 681 or on channel 14 at the marina.
    best regards
    Tony

    Tony,

Thanks very much for the information regarding Jamestown ramp. We all need to do what we can so you guys can make the improvements as quickly as possible.

The launch ramp one-way road is now closed for about 2 to 3 weeks as we are clearing underbrush from along the road way for more parking. We will have to restrict this parking to cars and trucks only "NO Trailer" .
Does this mean the only place to park my car with trailer tomorrow Feb 28 is in the gravel lot at the top of the hill?

I'll be down there tomorrow morning about 9am to use the ramp. I'll look you up so you can keep me straight. I'll be in the green Honda van pulling the 17' white boat with the white motor.

    Thanks again.

hi Peter sorry i will miss you tomorrow but Curt will be working. kind of under the weather and taking a sick day tomorrow. No park in the paved lot to the left of the guard shack. the sign says boat rental lot. tell everyone to use that lot till April 1st. during the winter Nov to April we let fisherman park their trucks and trailers in that lot. saves them a long walk. well at 680ft elv. it saves them a longer walk LOL.
    take care Tony

Sunday park your truck and trailer in the paved lot just to the left of the guard shack. that is the boat rental parking lot and we open it up to fishermen Nov to April for your trailers.
    have a good catch

    Re: JamesTown Ramp

Thanks for the post providing the info on th ramp at JMR. i will and hope all others obey and follow the rules posted on the signs. If ya would relly like to help us old timers out put a shuttle down there to give us a ride back up that hill to our vehicles lol. 1 question since you are giving out coutesy slips to be placed on the dash of the vehicle to show that a person has paid their launch fee what to do when the guard shack is closed and a person has to use the courtesy box to pay?

    Great update.

I think is shows that everyone is willing to work together until eveything is smoothed out. Good to know that ramps are going to be improved.

Thanks for taking the time to update everyone in a real thorough way. Got one question though .... After inserting money into the 'Honor Box', how do you guys know who paid or not? Only reason I ask is that tickets/ fines seem to be an option, so how do you distinguish if someong paid or not?

PS...no disrespect intended. Just want to avoid paying, then getting ticketed. That would lead to another kind of conversation that we all want to avoid.

Sorry, disregard previous email. Got to get in the habit of checking all pages, not just the first. Doidn't see the reference to 'courtesy slips'.

I am working on a box now that will be attached to the main honor box you will remove a pouched ticket put your money in the bottom half and remove the top half and put on your rear view. they will be numbered. for the most part i would like to say that the fisherman are very honest. we remove the money each morning and everning. count the trailers and 90% of the time the money and trailers match. i have even found notes saying they did not have change and would pay the next day. guess what next day i had a note with two days pay. great guys. thanks.

Thanks Billy for the heads up. I will have one of my Security men on the Ramp Sunday morning to help with any questions and parking. During the fishing season if you guys will let me know when you have a big turnout i will make sure someone is there to help. also let me know what time you will be arriving and ill inform the cafe. It is open on weekends they can fix box lunches if you are interested. my email is [email protected]
as i might not get to check here everyday please feel free to email me and ill do my best to keep everyone updated on the ramp, fuel pier, and cafe hours. as of today you can call on channel 14 for the front desk and they will get someone if you need fuel. the cafe is open sat and sun. JRM monitors marine channels 14 and 16 . the launch ramp road is closed due to improvments for two weeks or more LOL. we have one lane open at the ramp and can launch and recover 45 ft boats at this time. have a great weekend and hope the catch is great.
