One Of The Best And Worse

I will have to say this years classic was great. Some of the best fishing I have ever seen. It was great to see such close weigh-ins and to see a no name win made it even better. Don't get me wrong, I like the big names but it was great to see Duckett win. Now the bad;l the coverage was pretty terrible and they should change the name from bassmasters to toyotamasters. I have nothing against toyota because they are great vehicles and they are just American made as any other now, but it seemed to me that every commercial that was on was a toyota tundra. Just my two cents but never the less it was a great classic

I'd have to say that the timing of this year's classic is just plain bad.....sure they moved it to get in some good fishing action, but from a television standpoint it just doesn't work! With all of the basketball action going on and being on the verge of March Madness, they should consider pushing the classic off to a later date when there isn't as much competition with other events.

I agree with Livewell that the Classic competition was great and the coverage was poor, including having a Toyota overdose. I do have to disagree with Livewell's comment "they are just American made as any other now"; in 2006, 46.4% of the vehicles Toyoto sold in the US were imported and 48% of the parts used in Toyoto vehicles actually produced in the US are not made in the US, they are imported. I'd say that's not as American made as my Chevy.

Istead of showing a live weigh-in, they showed strongest man competition, and drag racing. I cannot understand it.

I thought the coverage was horrible, the one event ESPN covers for the year on BASS and they can't do it live. Why 10 at night unless I missed somthing the only morning coverage was from the day before.
    just my 2 cents worth.

This doesn't have much to do with fishing, but I thought it was hilarious. There's a new Toyota commercial coming out where one of their trucks pulls a trailer up a seesaw, the seesaw swings, and it stops on the way down. Toyota was so excited about this new commercial, they released some behind the scenes footage of the making of it. In that footage, you can see in the background the trucks that were used in the construction of the set.... all Fords.

Yes, some one at Toyota got a good chewing letting the back ground pics of Fords building the set get played. I hear when the factory in Texas was being built the contractors used mosty Ford, Chevy. A bit off the subject and not bashing Toyota because they do build a good truck.

I thought the coverage was fairly good at the Classic. But it has turned into a bit of a circus since ESPN has taken over. Kind of like a soap opera, they need some drama to keep things interesting. Its a long infomercial with a little fishing thrown in.
