I'm going to fish Dale some this yr. and was wondering which line is best for this clear water. I usually use 8lb. original stren for my clear water applications but my clear water and dales clear water are considerably different. Thanks.

6lb flouro or even 4lb flouro will work the best. Dale is extremely clear and the flouro will give you the best chance. I like the XPS Bass Pro Signature Series flouro the best. Used it for the first time this winter and love it.
I've been using excel clear 12-14lb test on Dale Hollow for the last ten years. I have had some good trips and some bad trips. I am sure that lighter line will help some but not that much. My personal opinion if you use any type of clear or flourocarbine or vanish you will be alright. To me, Dale Hollow is a timing lake, if you catch it right hold on, but if you don't just hang in there and enjoy being on one of the most beautiful lakes around.
I have caught hundreds of big smallies on 8-14 lbs flourescent blue line in Dale. So has the guide that I use, in fact of all his client he has never been able to tell a huge differnce in catches between heavier lines. Same on Cumberland. I'm not saying smaller line never helps but its never been a concern for me.
My original reply was for winter fishing line only. I use 10lb flourescent for night fishing at Dale last year with no problems. I don't use the smaller line in the summer night fishing for it is not as important.
