What do you guys think would be the best to throw at them? Live bait? I've never really fished for them, but wouldn't mind trying.
Try corn. The trout in the Cumberland River will eat that if artificials aren't producing.

Corn, salmon eggs or night crawlers will work. If you are wanting to throw artificial lures, an in-line spinner like a Rooster Tail usually works well. I taught my son the basics of casting and retreiving artificial lures by catching trout at both Otter Creek and Lynn Camp when he was younger.
Tomorrow will be my first time fishing Fisherman's Park, but at Miles, which is an almost identical pond, they seem to take minnows better than anything else. And I've found that #8 hooks with a long shank work well; very few gut-hooks. The biggest trout you can expect to catch is about decent pan-size, with a lot of them barely bigger than fingerlings. There are also largemouth, hybrid bluegill, and catfish stocked in there. I have no idea how big any of those might get. Probably not real big, it's a pretty small lake, a pond, really.
Hey Road Toad, I might be headed out there tomorrow myself. I've been a few times had have caught bluegill and one LM bass (tiny guy, but fought like a trooper - LM crack me up!) If you see someone casting a lime green fish-finder transducer halfway across the pond, that'll be me!
I went there today, threw about everything I had at them in Pond One, couldnt even get a bite. Noone seemed to be catching anything. Come to think of it, I've never caught anything out of both fishermans or Miles. I usually just throw in line spinners. Anyone got any other suggestions?
I just got back myself. I have to apologize; apparently it was #3 that was stocked. We caught two trout. A guy fishing next to me caught a tiny little crappie; said he had caught some nice ones last year. It didn't look like anybody was exactly tearin' 'em up. There was one guy up in a corner of the lake, at the opposite end from the dam, who caught several trout, but I don't know what he was using.I went there today, threw about everything I had at them in Pond One, couldnt even get a bite. My first time trout fishing in Louisville was last fall at Miles, about a week after the September stocking, and I'm tellin' ya, the action was fast! I'm not exaggerating when I say you could catch a limit in an hour or two. And my girlfriend caught three small bass and a decent trout out of there just last week. And get this, the web site of the Urban Fishing Program says that last fall they actually stocked HYBRID BASS in there!

Good info. I might go give it a try tomorrow afternoon and see how it goes. I've never caught a trout, but I'd like to!
No wonder. I know that trout try to surface a lot, and I didnt see a single one surface today. Now I know why. That blasted lake I was fishin today probally didnt have a darn fish in it!
Can anyone fish these lakes? Do you need a special permit? Where they located?
Wouldn't mine throwin a line or two myself.
