I do the same thing. For no more than what they cost, you might as well do it. Better safe than sorry!

Do you guys change your plugs every year in your outboards, I've been doing it the last several years and wondered at times if it was a bit of overkill??

On my Opti-Max, the plugs are recommended to be changed after 100 hours, then the next is at 300 hours, I believe. Been awhile since I read the book though.

I used to do the same thing. However I did not last year & did not have a bit of trouble. Mine are $7 each (X6) = $42 (OUCH)
Which wouldn't be so bad, except I always have to buy something else every spring (batteries, tires, its always something).
I do however, keep a set of brand new Sparklies in the boat (just in case)![]()
I always put in new plugs every spring. When I put my boat away for the winter I always fog my engine very heavy and after I take it out and run it for the first time in the spring to clean out the fogging oil, I replace the plugs and it seems to always run better because I do believe that the fogging oil may foul the plugs. Just my .02 because my plugs do not cost that much.
