My wife just picked me up a couple of new rods at BPS this weekend and got 6ft rods. I have always used 6 and 1/2 or bigger. When would a 6 ft med action come in handy. If not I will take them back and exchange them.
Thanks

On one of them, put a Curado 100, spooled with 8 LB test line, and a #5 Shadrap in TN Shad color--in about a month it will be deadly on early Spring Bass. On the other put a BPS Extreme 7.1:1 spooled with 10 LB test line, and use any quarter ounce wood grabbers you like (Rattle Traps)--its great for fishing flats near channel breaks.
Just my suggestions, but that is what I use 6' Rods for.

P.S., I meant to say that you can change lures and use these same rods/reels for a bunch of different applications throughout the year.On one of them, put a Curado 100, spooled with 8 LB test line, and a #5 Shadrap in TN Shad color--in about a month it will be deadly on early Spring Bass. A real good length for walking the dog with a Zara Spook. Also a good spoon jigging rod. I am sure there other methods you can use them for.![]()
To me a great rod to use jerk baits with. or even maybe a smaller spinner bait to underhand cast up under boat docks and over hanging trees where precision and accuracy is really needed.
I also like grumpy's idea for a shad rap rod.....
But also would be a great rod for the wife to use if she went fishing with you and needed a rod to fish with...

What weight/action are these rods? Light? Med? Heavy? I have 2 six ft rods that I use from time to time. The medium action works really well for thowing smaller crankbaits and RatLTraps in tight quarters. I'm more accurate with this rod than with my 6'6" rods. I throw another 6 footer with heavy action when jig fishing in tight quarters. They are just easier to handle in certain situations... In your case, I would keep one of the rods and trade the other one in for a MH6'6" rod. The 6'6" MH is can be used with just about any bait, anywhere... JMHO
A 6ft rod is great for skipping under docks, etc. I tried a 6 1/2 ft and it works but a 6 ft is more accurate.
I love a 6' rod for spinnerbait fishing in tight conditions and any plastic in tight cover where casting a longer rod maybe cumbersome.
and you know women always think things look bigger than is.
