Thumbs up Re: Question for a moderator?

Believe it or not, most would to see what is actually goin on over in Iraq. To see exactly what our military are up against day in and day out... What would you rather it be a dead Iraq soldier or a dead American Soldier.... I have seen this video, that is being spoken of..and it is a great piece of filming and shows what happens to bad guys....

Neither. I wish our GIs weren't over there dying to keep gas prices down. I think that's a shame and they are honorable and courageous men fighting a misguided war that never should have been started.

And it's a shame any time someone raises a whimper of protest they get the Old Glory smackdown seen in your quote. I won't speak for gurl, but I don't don't believe we do ourselves any good by glorifying war in the first place, and that's what these videos do.

And I'm not sure you want your logic pressed to its ultimate conclusion. If you want to advocate watching the video because it presents the reality of war, are you also ready to advocate posting videos of killed GIs having their bodies torn apart in the streets of Baghdad or Mosul? That's war too.

Let's be honest - the real reason people watch these types of videos is the same reason people watch porn - it's a guilty pleasure. Check out the emoticons in the original post. It's exciting to watch someone die.

    Not for me, thanks.

I don't want anyone to be killed. Furthermore, I really, really do not want to WATCH anyone be killed and I can't understand the mentality of those who do.

You don't have to see these videos to know what's going on over there. The other side is planting bombs and ambushes and the U.S. side is trying to stop them. You shouldn't have to need a video showing people getting shot to realize that.

    Good points.

I would also question whether we really want to be posting snuff films on a family site. The videos are out there. People can find them if they want them. I see no reason to post them here too.

Agree...if most Americans TRULY understood and or witnessed the kind of sacrifices our young men and women in arms make every day I am sure they would be in awe. And just maybe it would help us as a nation continue to find ways to make life easier on these folks when they hang up their spurs and come home.

IMHO.....there are just too few Americans that TRULY understand what these folks in arms have done and do everyday, and so can't concieve of the real debt we owe them.

If not for the guys that volunteer to join the US Military and defend our country old guys like me would have to do it.

So I'm very thankful that the young men and women volunteer to work in our Armed Forces. Without them we would be vulnerable to attack from other countries.

But I sometimes wonder what our leaders are doing by sending these wonderful young men and women into harms way. Some of the last few wars could have been avoided IMHO. Some were necessary IMHO. The time when Bush Sr sent the troops into Kuwait to repel the Iraqi Army was the right decision.

The troops just do what they are ordered to do. That is what they are trained to do. And we should support these men and women when they return home again. They should be given good jobs and a roof over their head. They should be given the money to get educated too. The VETs should be well treated not taken advantage of by the VA health care system too.
