    Re: Question for a moderator?

Well I started this post and seeings how all the tree hugging democrats have had their say here is mine. I DO believe there is a reason for these videos. I spent my time in Italy, Germany, Sinai Desert with the 82nd Airborne, 101st Air Assault, 8th ID, Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) and the Southern European Task Force (SETAF). I did my time as an Airborne Infantryman protecting a hell of a lot of folks over here in the FREE USA that I could really care less about. All of these folks that claim we should not be in Iraq should take a deep look at what happened during 911. We COULD have these type of incidents on a regular basis. Would that make you feel better? It makes me feel really good to see what we are doing over there, and yes that means taking the lives of the enemy. Better them than my family, my friends, or myself. It is a real crying shame that we have people that call themselves Americans and all they seem to be able to do is bitch about what the Amercan government does. YES I SERVED IN OUR MILITARY AND I FEEL I HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY WHAT I WANT. If you spent your time then you should also. If you have not put your life on the line for your country then do not bitch about what is going on because you have NOT put yourself out at all. Peter, Jim, Andrew, and the other moderators, if you went to delete this then please do however when you do please delete me from your list (log on etc.) and I will gladly never visit this website again. This truly gets on my nerves!

Lifelong Republican here, and the only time I've ever hugged a tree was climbing down from a deer stand. I haven't voted for a liberal since...well...never. Voted for Bush in 2000, and held my nose and voted for him in 2004, held my nose because he abandoned the conservative principles he was elected on in 2000.

I understand 100% what happened during 9/11. I believe 100% in taking those guys out. I believe there are radical Islamists who hate our freedom and who believe their religion commands them to kill us.

But that's not why we invaded Iraq. The reason our leaders gave for war was that Saddam had WMD's-something we now know, hardly anyone in our government really believed, and I don't believe it either. There has never been any evidence Iraq was behind 9/11, and the fact that so many people believe otherwise is testimony to the power of repeating the same thing over and other until people believe it. After the invasion, we then committed the fatal error of failing to plan for success; we had no plan in place to stabilize the country after Saddam's government fell, or more accurately retreated.

And our being there has created thousands of the same misguided zealots who flew the two planes into the towers.

Marty, take a step back and read what you said. You believe we're fighting for freedom. Freedom of speech, however, only is available to those who served in the military:

Do you really believe that? Our Founding Fathers thought freedom of speech was so important that it was part of the very first Amendment in the Bill of Rights. That freedom includes our right--no,*duty*--to disagree with the government, whether we've served in the military or not. I can give you a bazillion quotes from our Founding Fathers saying that very thing.

We probably agree on almost everything except whether or not we should be fighting this war. As Americans, we have to be able to accept our disagreements, or else the freedom our servicemen fight for doesn't mean anything at all.

    Re: Question for a moderator?

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing with the Iraq war. Simply, this is a family site and I see no reason to post graphic images of real people getting their heads blown off that young kids could see. Graphic violence in movies gets an R rating, this is a PG site.

Now, if you want to discuss the war, yes, I believe Iraq was a mistake from the start. I believe our leaders lead us into the war on false pretences. The war that we should be fighting with all we have is Afganistan. Al Quida trained there, was supported there, was being given refuge there, and was 100% responsible for 911. I was 100% behind the president in going over there and turning Taliban and Al Quida into worm food. We also need to be "winning the hearts and minds" of the people there so Al Quida, and groups like them, can never take hold again.

Going into Iraq under false pretenses just creates more Al Quida and similar ilk. Our resources should be directed 100% at Afganistan to insure we get it right over there. Iraq takes away from our concentration.

    My 2 cents.

Interesting political discussion from 2007 (Past)

Have things changed since 2007. We are still talking about wars and politics and elections today just like we did back in 2007. Nothing has really changed much since then.

But wait we killed Bin Laden and have troops in Afghanistan as well as we took out the leader of Lybia and the Russians are in Syria and the Middle East today as well as they invaded the Ukraine and have taken back the Crimea.

Obama has been President now since 2008 Jan and Iran has agreed to stop making the atomic bomb. North Korea has the Atomic Bomb now and Missiles to deliver a bomb to US held Territories.

The first women is running for the Presidency and we have a businessman with zero political experience running for the Presidency.

The Earth just keeps on turning and turning no matter what we say and do. It just keeps spinning around and going around our sun.
