Thanks for the report, the hard freeze is my guess. The thick ice with them stuck in it near the surface.. Maybe Moose1 can tell us. Moose1 where are you?

For the millions and millions of you awaiting my first on the water report for 2007 well here it is.
Temp was 45-46 slight stain with a visibility of about 1- 1.5'.
Windy with quite a bit of debris on the surface.
I did not fish very long due to other obligations, but I did not boat a fish.
I threw 2 jigs and a jerk bait with no takers. There were a ton of dieing shad anything from 3"-12", I figured any active fish were feeding on these or had already fed on them, some shad were bleeding or at least had red blotches on them.
I would like to here some input on what you guys think is causing the die off, my opinion is the cold nights. The water temps on the surface are actually a couple of degrees cooler than the temp is several feet down this may be playing a part.
The recent heavy rains and high water has shifted some logs and deposited them just under the suface be aware of these and take it easy the first trip or 2 up the creek. I only fished to Rockyshores so I'm not sure what changes have occured on up.

STOner,
We had the same thing near the dam at Frymans....
I guess that's why the fishing was slow...
They'er full
FIshhunter and I are going again in the AM>

With all of the fish we marked today, you know they were there. Makes sense...full bellies.
Go get'em tomorrow fellers and report. Stay in the draft and try not to get loose in the turns or I hear you'll hit the wall.Supposed to be upper 50's and sunny and the wind looks lighter. Billy, I'd almost start the day down where we ended it...
Myself and Mr. Dasher might be hitting The Big E tomorrow, depending on his health status. I'll be pitching the hair exclusively.
Any of you guys planning to fish Frymans next Sat.? I would like to join you. I'm here at the plant the rest of the week, but had planned to fish
Sat. depending on the weather and creek cond.

Stoner where the bloches all over there body or just in the head area????If in the head area only I suggest oxygen...Maybe there temp. comfort zone is oxygen depleted...just a guess..
They were all over the the body, but only on the larger shad.
