Im not getting all tore up over this, I am just setting here as calm as can be at work just saying people should think before they speak or type whatever formality it is because more than likely it is them who is the moron.
I work with numerous engineers, and I must say, you fit the mold to a tee; an arrogant jack-a**. Most, and I am assuming you fall in this category, don't know their rear-end from a hole in the ground. There is not a direct correlation between the amount of money you bring home and your intellectual capabilities, your post proves that to all of us. I have half the formal education of those with whom I work (at least in that chosen field) and still manage to make a decent living. It would be wise if you were to come down from your high horse and learn a little humility. Just because your professors or underlings blew sunshine up you rear doesn't mean that they were telling you the truth. While I'm quite sure that you are competent in what you do, I would wager that you are a MORON when it comes to things such literature, history, politics, and yes, even the outdoors. You didn't design/engineer that masterpiece of modern angling that Mr. Martin is pushing by any chance, did ya?

As for Mr. Martin, he is a dunderhead. I have never liked him mostly because of his arrogance. Every time he gets on the tube, I have to turn it. I think it is only fitting that he has to spend his time hocking plastic pieces of junk to the kiddies on Saturday mornings. I am so glad that someone like him was beaten out by the likes of Rick Clunn for best angler of all time. The only rub is that he came in second. What a dork.

    Keep on chuckin'

Who cares how much one makes. You can't take it with you. As high strung as some of you are you won't be here much longer anyway. Mrobertson chill out. Dude you are way too high strung. I have sat back and watch this thread and I don't know anyone personally on here. Everyone else seems like a nice person you are the only one I don't want to meet. Not that you will lose sleep over it. Just my two cents. You can reply and call me a moron and I don't, care been called a lot worse by a lot better people.

I have a friend that has met Roland several times and according to him calling him a moron is too good.

    Just my two cents.

Bottom line would I buy one? NO! But, if it gets kids interested in fishing, then I am okay with it.

P.S. I am not a Roland fan, but maybe he needs the money.
Nice thought, I never thought of that angle but could be true.

    funny Roland story for you

At the 1999 Classic on media/fan day at a local park. The anglers and media were riding back to the hotel on a charter bus and a couple of anglers were talking about cheating in tournaments. The subject came up anout cheating in the Classic and wondered if anyone had ever been caught cheating in it.

A well know prominent angler (read: somebody that just did a seminar at BPS) was sitting in the back of the bus with his hat pulled down over his eyes like he was sleeping. After a minute or two he woke and said "If Roland ain't been caught then nobody has." The bus exploded in laughter it was great.

I was resisting the urge to post on this thread, but since I read each and every one of them and saw that it looked like every member and his next of kin was posting, I figured what the heck, I may as well post too.

So, in keeping with the original nature of this thread, I will throw in "my two cents worth" about Mr Martin...I don't know for sure if he's a moron or not, in "my opinion" he's just plain goofy...he's just a real goofy kind of guy, the kind of guy that tends to get on my nerves REAL quick. I think Mr Martins show should be watched in the company of several fisherman who want some good laughs because even though he's not intending to be a comedian, that's basically what he is in "my opinion".

I would have to say that this has been one of the most entertaining threads that we have had in awhile. I think the cabin fever and the fishin flu has gotten everyone down. 75 degree weather through the week and then 40 degrees on the weekend what's a guy to do. Here most havent had the chance to get out to the lake while some of us other morons like myself will be on the water this weekend no matter how cold. My thoughts on Martin is I grew up watching him and always enjoyed his shows growing up, kissing fish and all was funny to a little boy. The funnest part was on Match Fishing when he was pretty much beggin Luke to help him catch some fish, with them "working togeather" and all. O well thought I would get in on the action a little.

    Re: Roland Martin,, LOL

I'm by no means implying, one way or the other, that I agree/disagree with everyone on this issue of Roland and him being a moron or not. I WILL say this....... His new fangled gadget has grabbed the attention of my kids, like a world record largemouth on the end of ANY anglers line, who I would like nothing more than to spend every day on the water with!!! For THAT reason alone, I will most definitely be purchasing this product and I would like to personally thank this so-called MORON for helping me to obtain my sons interest in the outdoors. Heck, I thought that was what it's all about? I'd be willing to bet that if WE were walking in the same shoes as Roland, we'd be morons in the eyes of at least SOME of the public........would we not? It's hard to please everyone. No sense in trying. Just go with what your gut tells you is right, and stick with it. In my honest and personal opinion, Roland has his priorities in check. The kids interests should come first. I've watched Roland's shows when I was a kid. It's true, he's goofy at times, when I watch him NOW. However, back in the good 'ole days, I really enjoyed waking up on Saturday mornings just to watch him and Bill stick 'em in the lips!! Let's face it guys/gals, we need ALL the help we can get in getting todays kids away from the video games and back into the boats!!! I'm sure most here would agree. So......... to Roland Martin....... Thanks, from a dad, for being that goofy moron who is continually portrayed as a world class jacka** wannabe!!! Although I may not tune in to your next show, or set the recorder to watch it later......... and with any luck, maybe......... just MAYBE......... you'll catch the eye of my kids, who I hope to be sitting next to me this summer in the boat. I'm certain I'll think back on this thread and snicker when they are catching blue gill on that shooting fishing pole, or silly a** gadget so-to-speak, that your endorsing now. As long as they're having fun with ME, in the boat and not at home playing that d**n video game, I guess that's really............ ALL THAT MATTERS!!! It's hard to ask for much more than that!!! I'll step off the soap box now..... :-) ..... Good fishin' guy/gals!!! Best of luck to all !!!!

I did not read your entire post and I have not seen Mr. Martin's promotion for whatever it is he is selling. It speculate it is funny to watch and I hope to get to see it.

I think you have a point though. I started fishing when my mother in Law gave my son a "Mickey Mouse" fishing rod when he was five. That is literally a mickey mouse rod. I think was the same thing as the Ronco rod..all plastic about 18" long. You know you cast it and the lure goes out about 10 feet because it is all tangled inside or is just simply does not work.

Get em hooked on fishing through whatever gadetry necessary.
