    Handheld GPS

I just got a Lowerance iFinder H2O color and was wondering how many people who have the handheld gps' use external antennas with them. Have not used it on water yet but was wondering if you lose signal a lot or if it will better calculate your position. I did get the maps and like the detail it shows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Handheld GPS

I use hand helds a lot in my line of work and occasionaly in the boat. The only time you need an external antenna is if the unit does not have direct contact with the sky (ie... in an automobile or an aircraft). You will be fine in your boat unless you have a cubby cabin.
