    Re: Worst bait ever..................

In todays bait wars, many things come and go. Although a lure may promise exceptional results and vicious blow-ups in their demonstration videos, most are relatively stupid. The flying lure's concept is not. In the new bassmaster, there is an article on reversing the texas rig. Ike talks about using a power noddle with a nail in the bottom of it instead of a conventional bullet weight. This does catch fish. I rig centipedes, trick worms and even craws like this. This is a exceptional presentation when fishing heavy cover in lakes that get pounded by tons of fisherman. It gives the fish a diffrent look and mimicks the REAL action of a backwards swimming crawfish. I have also caught fish on the banjo minnow, (a long time ago) before the fluke became so popular. All in all, the lures may be stupid but there is usually a idea that comes along with it that will catch fish!

    Tight lines,

If you can get your hands on a new copy of the FLW Outdoors magazine, they have a very good article about Chatterbaits. They show a bunch of different brands and tell you the history. Just look for the article about cranking jigs. Good Luck!

I don't remember what is was called, and I never saw one in person, but a couple of years ago I saw an ad for a lure that was supposed to be a dragonfly suspended over the water. I think that has to be number 1, followed closely by the Helicopter Lure

Just for the record I have some SLIGHTLY used helocopter lures for sale, $10.00 each. I know its a little steep but I just hate to part with them, I keep them in my boat AT ALL TIMES, don't believe me? Stop me on the water sometime, I keep one in my pocket, they're my good luck charm.

Chatterbaits catch bass, the Gambler, and all brands will produce. I have caught several on them, a good alternitive to a spinnerbait at times. I have several different brands and the small size Booya is a pond killer. Do not knock these baits these are not a joke.

I have wacked em on the chatter bait. Actually pretty good lure. Ill tell you a piece of crap! THE LUCKY CRAFT jointed jerk bait. It has 2 small cables running through the jointed part of the bait. A $20 bait will last you 2 decent size fish! EXPENSIVE (It works but doesnt hold up)

Well I was going to say the Flying lure, but ETEC beat me to it. I did see it catch a fish though, but only one as I recall.

Anything that has the name "Lucky Craft" attached to it. I have about 8 different versions and have caught exactly 1 - 12" Kentucky Bass on a jerkbait in Sugar Bay at Ky Lake early last year. Cast after Cast after cast with cranks, lipless, and jerkbaits for just one fish. I will take 2-3 Rapala's or 6 Renegades to every 1 Lucky Craft for the same money. It could be, and most likely is, that I don't have a clue as to what I am doing but for now I will blame it on the bait.

The Chatterbait and some of the knock offs are actually good lures. Use them around the yellow flowers down at Barkley or Kentucky and you might get you rod yanked out of your hand!! There have been alot of tournament top 10s and wins on those types of baits.

yeah I picked a few up last year curious to what all the hype was about. I used a chartreuse colored one at nolin fishing a tournament and actually caught a couple nice keepers. We were fishing timber. This I'm sure contributed to the luck. My partner did just as well throwing spinners and cranks. I guess we were just in the right spot at the right time.
