Back from my excursion from KY Lake this weekend.
Thursday was the nicest day of the bunch. The morning was awesome weather, but it quickly went downhill. The rain started about 10 AM, about 2 hours after launch. Caught a couple of yellow bass and drumoff of a float n fly. Went back to the house and watched the UofL game. Afterwards, decided not to go back out due to the crashing tempuratures and the spittin rain.
Friday, got out about 10 AM, cold and extremly windy. Didnt catch anything. Went in about 3 PM, didnt feel like fightin any more wind.
Saturday, wind lied down a bit. Caught a few crappie and yellow bellies drifting minnows. Still cold and fish slow after the front.
All toghether, a bad day's fishin will never beat a bad days work. But of course, with every trip, questions are raised. We were wondering are all the drum we saw normal? Is the lake being overrun? We were lookin to go back down probally mid next month. We were wondering what would be spawining and running, as well as the bass pattern in mid April. Also, we have never been on Barkley, and were wondering what, if anything, could we find different on Barkley. Looking to try it next time we venture down, as well as Reelfoot, how far away is Reelfoot from KY Lake? Thanks in advance for answering any of those questions!
