anyone have a recent update on the water temp and clarity?thinkin of goin in the morning and just wondering what too expect
Fished Guist hard last Wednesday from 9:00 to 4:00 without the slightest nibble. Water was the usual emerald green with a tinge of brown from the runnoff with temps ranging from 52 to 57. Marked many fish on the graph but couldnt get them to strike. Threw everything in the kitchen sink at them but never could convince them to hit. Talked to some guys at the ramp and everyone had the same luck. Some said that teh lake dosnt turn on till sometime in April. Guist, in my opinion, is consistantly one of the toughest lake to fish. The pressure on that small lake is incredable. It will humble even the most experienced anglers.
Everyone I have talked to over the past week or so says that Rough is very tough right now. Should be rising and very muddy due to the rains of yesterday and today. Planning on going down sometime Sat or Sunday but I dont expext to do very well, we shall see. let us know how you do where ever you go.
Keep on chuckin'
i will do ,if i can make up my mind oon which i wanna go to.i like rough alot better i know it more and have alot more luck on it but with all the rain i am thinkin of savin my gas and just goin too taylorsville and casting not catching, lol
I'm glad other people have experienced the Guist frustration - well, not really glad that y'all have had bad days there, but at least it makes me think I'm not going crazy after all.
My first trip out there last summer I caught an 8lb hybrid using my fly rod. Talk about getting spoiled! Since then, every time I've gone, I've marked large schools of fish (and BIG fish too!) on my fishfinder and not even a single bite. I was beginning to think maybe I had just imagined that whole first trip where I actually caught a nice fish.
I guess they're just tight-lipped from so much pressure. Well, that's my story now and I'm sticking to it.
Fished Rough today. Water temp was anywhere from 53-60 degrees. Good mixture of muddy and clear water depending on where you go.
Fished Guist today if you can call it fishin we didn't get a bite I guess the front shut them down of course I don't think the muddy water helped either. Threw everything water was 49-51 degrees.

Fished tourney on Guist Sat. I didn't get a bite, but one limit was weighed and several other boats had fish. I think 11 of 18 weighed fish. Never found water warmer than 48 and it was muddy. I think I read that the limit was all caught on small jigs on the main lake in 10-15 feet. Other fish were caught as shallow as three feet on jigs and shallow cranks. Sometimes Guist can make you feel like a pro, and sometimes it can make you feel like Jerry Cole is hiding in a tree with a camera laughing at you.
I wasn't laughin just snaping some picks of my Boys. Give me a call I got a question for you.
