    Cumberland Report 3/24 &3/25

Fished all day Saturday and till 11.30a.m. on Sunday before heading back. Fished mainly west end of lake but did fish some in Pumpkin Creek. Water temps mainly 50 degrees on up to 56 late in the day depending on where you were. Seemed 50 to 51.7 degrees or so was the norm almost everywhere. Caught fish Saturday early and a few late, middle of the day with the bluebird skies and high temps was tough to get bit. No heavy weights either day but several nice smallmouth and several nice Kentucky's kicked in. I couldn't get fish hooked up good Saturday and probably missed and lost another four or five nice fish. Broke a gooden off on a fluke, ouch, fish had shoulders. Seemed they were swiping at my jerkbait and other moving baits, like they just hadn't quite got there wits about'em yet, you know what I mean. Water in some areas was nasty with I guess some type of Algae bloom or rotting bottom matter floating up. We were aroung Coopers Point in Beaver Creek and the water had dark brown stained streaks in it it looked bad and we left, no fish there. Lake still has plenty of water and when you are out in the big water it doesn't feel any different then it ever did to me. Launched at Halcolmbs Landing at the dam and it's fine for anything up to 20', in fact I think a 21' would be a piece of cake. Parking is a real issue and if you go do not park against the far back end as they will trap you in, as common sense is out the window on parking down there right now. I parked on side of ramp and has no problems to speak of. It's getting close and a few more degrees in water temp and I think you'll have to hide behind a tree to tie a bait on. Good luck if you go and be careful, when parking try and keep yourself and others in mind, tightlines to all.
