    Spring Break Fishing Trips

Hello to Everyone...spring break is almost here for us teachers. I am looking forward to fishing some days. I heard the long range forecast and wouldn't you expect the weather to change. It happens every year. But those of us who love to fish go rain or shine and must adapt to the conditions. Anyway I want your opinions on where I should go and what I should try.

I live in the Richmond, KY area. I have several lakes to try. What are your opinions on where to go for bass or crappie? And what tactics will be working. I would like to have a little success this spring break!! Thanks for you post. I look forward to hearing from you.

I love Wilgreen...I plan on hitting Wilgreen at least 1 day. This time of the year is good at Wilgreen. I usually catch good numbers of fish. The only thing about Wilgreen is that I have a difficult time hooking up with the larger fish. Maybe because of the pressure or I am not that good!!!. One thing that I believe has not been good for Wilgreen is the number of tournaments held there. It has a lot of pressure!!! I wish smaller lakes like Wilgreen would limit tournaments to help reduce the pressure.

Try slow rolling big spinnerbaits around them tree limps is does work lol for the bigger fish.... sometimes you may have to throw in the same spot two or three times lol

(good luck) and whens the last time that you have been to rebba?

I went last fall. I only caught a couple small fish. My brother in law caught a nice 16 inch bass. I am told it holds some big fish too...I have not try to learn it though.

If your in Richmond then you should really go by Cedar Creek. It really ain't that far. Wish I could tell you more about but I have only been on it twice but several folks on here will tell you that it has a lot of potential.

Do you have a boat? If so how big? How far are you willing to travel? I would head to Dale or the big KY.

I do have a boat, we use 17' Alumacraft 50hp Mercury. It is very steady...just not real fast. I used to fish Dale as a young boy, we camped there every summer. I have not been there since. I would like to go if I can find someone to split the cost and would travel the distance. If I went I would have no idea the best (closest) place to put in. Then I would have no idea of the pattern or where to go on the lake. I just would not want to waste my day search for fish.

I plan to head down from Lexington to crappie Saturday at Wilgreen if the lake is not muddy. I have just fished to lake one time last year and did pretty good for numbers of crappie. I dont care to let you know how I do. I wish I could go somewhere else but poor college kids have to fish close.

i would say cedar creek,i hadnt been in about a month but everyone is sayin there starting to turn on over there, theres lots of big fish in there and plenty of 12 to 15inchers,the baits i usually use over there are powerbait worms and jigs and an occasioal crankbait around the dam, give it a try man

    Re: Spring Break Fishing Trips

I just got back from my spring break trip myself from Dale. Had a good time and caught some good smallies. I stayed in John Davis' cabin and really enjoyed the time. Best spring break in my 7 yrs of teaching.
