    Question Cedar Creek

I know this question probaly has been asked a 100 times, but here goes. I am making my first trip to Cedar Creek, I will be going down on a Monday, in hopes that the lake wont be packed. I have the new Lowrance 522 that has the hot spots lake map built in, so hopefully I can figure some kind of pattern out. First do you guys think it will be packed on a Monday, and secondly at this time of year, are there any specific creeks, points, to work? and what kind of baits typically do better this time of year. I am an avid senko, crankbait, and creature bait tosser. I know most people dont want to give their hotspots away, but any help on this lake would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping to at least hook a decent fish out of there, from what i have read on this board, it seems to be a great lake. Thanks in advance for any information you can give me. Lastly is there any great shortcuts to get there from Mt. Washington.

Probably most direct route from Mt Washington is to come aross 150. Lake is 3-4 miles east of Stanford on 150. As for fishing, I would throw a jig and a spinnerbait, preferably white. Jig color not as important. Heard that some good fish were coming out of grass on flats on spinnerbait. Cold front has likely killed that. Right now I'd stay near the grass but probably throw those 2 around wood. 2 weeks ago caught one about 5lb next to standing timber on break from 5 to 8 feet while crappie fishing. Good luck and post how you did.

Cedar WILL be packed Monday, just like any other day. Lots more pressure this year than before. I was there yesterday and caught 8. One around 3 and the rest were small buck bass. Saw 30+ females locked up on the bed. They wouldn't even look at a bait. A friend of mine was there Monday and caught several nice ones and went back yesterday only to find alot of fish bedding in the area he was in. He caught 3 with one around 4. I don't know what this cold will do to the fish. You might concentrate on some deeper stuff (wood) with spinnerbaits or jigs to try and catch some of the prespawners. I caught mine shallow on jigs and beaver style baits. Wish I could help more and good luck.

Is there a day in the week that is typically less crowded than other days?

Not that I'm aware of... I fished CC 3X in March, all weekdays. 2 of the 3 days felt like weekends. Packed! The other day wasn't all that bad but I think it was because Lincoln County was in the Sweet 16 tournment. I'm sure the whole county was in Lexington watching the game(s).

My biggest fish this year was a 5.8 on spinnerbait. My 2007 success on CC has been much less than I thought it would be. The spring 2005 and 2006 bites were out of this world at times. It's not the same this year, that's for sure.

That is so true smljaws things have changed and they will keep changing too--Those fish will get in a deep water habit just like they did at taylorsville that's just the way it goes with new lakes--Its always great at the start it gives a person a false hope that he's knows what he's doing then its gone lol

What do ya expect with all the publicity it gets. I know everyone likes to brag as do I. However, when ya get on sites like this and advertise how easy it is to go down there and catch 5 to 7 lb fish, thats what happens. I remember when Beaver Lake was top secret then word got out. I fished that lake for years catching big fish and the next thing ya know the tournaments hit it. BYE BYE big fish bite. You guys that starting fishin CC when it first opened know it wasnt crowded like it is now. Best advertising there is "word of mouth".
