Destin Fishing

Heading to the Louisville Riviera.

Anyone ever fish down there. Wonder what I should try. Will go out one day with a group bottom fishing. I think I would like to try the bay.

Any suggestions?

There is very good bottom fishing around Destin, but bay fishing should be good now too. Lots of redfish in the area. The cobia run should be going on now, and that's a ton of fun. It's mostly sight fishing just off the beach throwing jigs or live eels. Should be a lot of spanish macs in the area now too. If there are, you can catch lots of them from the Ft. Walton pier. Have fun.

Also I would take a couple of light and medium spinng rods and go fish off of one of the pay to fish piers, and you can have a ball catching lady fish, I think thats what thet are called, they look and act like miniture tarpon and are a blast. Also instead of a party boat go out on a smaller charter, it will cost more but you will have a better chance at getting into better fishing. One thing check about licences, they might be required if you fish from the beach or surf, but the pay piers did not require licences the last time I was there. Good luck.
