Has anyone fished the big lakes since the cold front hit? Heading down in the morning since I've got the day off and looking for some help. Thanks in advance.
I was out with clients yesterday. We had a lot of bites all on jigs and shakey heads on lead in channel banks to the flats. Will be back out today.
I fished Wednesday morning for about 2 hours and caught over 20. Virtually no one else on the lake. Guess everyone thought the fish would be turned off but for me it grouped them in the area I was fishing and provided one of the best days of fishing I can recall.
Most fish taken on a small hard jerkbait but the bigger ones came on a Senko. Had a first when I caught two fish at the same time; one on the front treble and one on the back. Never seen largemouth in such a feeding frenzy.
went down for 4 days and after the cold front only caught i think 2 or 3,before the cold front caught about 20,caught a 7 and 5 pounder the first night, the night bite is on pretty good, caught them at night on stan sloan spinnerbaits and a couple on jigs, during the day they was on jigs and lizards or brush hogs
Fished the same pattern today as yesterday...no problems catching fish.
Been catching about the same as above, but also good luck on tubes & Spinnerbaits
Took 25 pounds to win the Jet-A-Marina Classic on Saturday. Jig and worms, fished slow.
Crankbait bite was awesome this weekend! Caught several bass on them, largest was a 3.5 lb Largemouth in three feet of water! I can't wait for the BFL there this weekend! Bring it on!!!
I fished on the TN side all week last week and had some mighty cold mornings, but man the fish were on! I caught some huge spots and a couple nice largemouth and a few smallies on a big luckycraft ripper. Fished for crappie for about 4 hours with a roadrunner and landed 2 little lm and a darn channel cat. bought some crickets and destroyed the bluegill everywhere I threw them, some big ones to boot. Caught one bonus sauger. All fished released, but no kisses.
This is why it is called fishing. For me, I fished before the cold front fishing for crappie, and plan to go back this weekend. Had it not been for the cold front, I would have expected the White crappie to have been moving up into the banks this week end or next, but not I am not sure. My plan of attact is two fold. Arrive Friday evening and night fish for crappie on the bay channels. On the following morning, FIND THE FISH: start fishing in 10-15 foot of water around sunrise in the channels and/over over cover. If no fish, then work my way toward the back of the bays working shallow water around stake beds, laydowns, brush, etc.
Well, thats one fisherman to another. Would love to hear of alternate/your plans for this weekend and Barkley Lake.
