need suggestions on buying a boat

i have a 1999 model bass boat (nada value is $8,300.00). i am trying to trade to a 2001 model bass boat(nada value is $10,500.00) a boat dealer has this boat.both boats are the same brand.both boats are in very good condition.the 2001 boat is a little larger and has 25 more hp.the dealer is asking $13000.00 for the 2001 model. since this is the first time i have tried to buy a boat from a dealer i need suggestions on this one!!!! how much cash plus my boat should i expect to pay for the newer 2001 model boat? thanks very much for your help. after a few of your suggestions i will post the cash difference the dealer has already ask me.

I would offer take what you are willing to give, and offer 500 to 600 less. For instance if you are willing to pay 2000 offer 1400 and your boat. You have to start your negotiations somwhere and don't worry about hurting thier feelings. Odds are the dealer has about 9500 give or take in that boat and he will take a reasonable offer. if that doen't work find another boat. There are several out there now a days.
    Let us know what happens.

I would expect to pay around 3000 dollars since the boat is valued at 1800 more than your old one..

your not going to believe this but the dealer called me back this morning and said he had to have$5500.00 to trade with me.i used to wonder how the car dealers and boat dealers could let something set on the lot for months and stay in business but now i know.they offer you about 70% of what your boat is worth and they sell their boat for 30% above the nada value. so they are making a killing from both boats.i know a dealership has to make money to stay in business but it looks like to me that everyone is trying to get on board with the gasoline and oil industry. just my opinion.

I would look at other places. Not trying to promote anyone but if your looking for a boat I can give you the name of the guys I bought mine from. It's a good peice up to them, but they seemed pretty fair. PM me and I will send you a contact.
