Thinking about taking the jon boat to Beaver Lake on Friday to try my luck. I've never fished it, so I'm curious if anyone had any recommendations for me. I'll probably try for both bass and crappie. Anybody have any tips?
Thanks.

thats a pretty nice lake for no more then what it is .i have only been there once so i cant give ya any input but the once i went it was fun i didnt get any quality but plenty of quanity and i would rather catch a slew then 1 nice one but thats me .you can only use your trolling motor there cant you?why not make it just idle speed ,there is a lake in oldham county that is like a pond and i can fire up the 175 on there and not worry about having too troll my happy white butt everywhere .been wanting too get back down too beaver will you post about the moss conditions and everything else ,thanks
Amen on the Idle speed, I would fish this lake much more if I could Idle my big motor instead of trolling everywhere.
Great place to take the kids...
Nice lake -- still alot of big bass in that lake not as many as the years past but still some good ones in there lol--stick with the rocky banks for the bass--as far as the laydowns you have got to get down in the middle of them to get the bass---and for the crappie fish in the middle of the lake right off the bottom from second big dog leg back to the dock/ramp--thats where the big crappie comes from-- gl to man![]()
Bass in Beaver.. I need pictures to prove it....![]()
Caught plenty of small Bass in Beaver Lake....Would recommend a spinnerbait or even a baby brushhog.......G/L
Yeah that lake is a blast in the Spring. Numbers for sure with an occasional 15" keeper.![]()
Fished it a couple of times and found that the farther away from the ramp the better. If you can get all the way up to the last main leg it is better. Don't forget your white rat on top of any junk and also skipping White Super Flukes weightless under the boat docks for some qualilty fish.
Wow elnut where did you live when you fished Beaver lake? Do you know where Georges cove is they named it after me-lolFished it a couple of times and found that the farther away from the ramp the better. Beaver is still a fine lake. The weed beds on the back half of the lake are getting heavy and almost to the surface. In the spring I throw black and blue jigs, shallow cranks, and before this cold came back had 2 over 5lbs. on top water one afternoon. Beaver does have a 10 h.p. limit on it, I see more bass boats with kicker 10's now and some idleing big motors but be aware that if caught the fine is something like $275.00.
