Bass in Beaver.. I need pictures to prove it....![]()
Caught plenty of small Bass in Beaver Lake....Would recommend a spinnerbait or even a baby brushhog.......G/L
Yeah that lake is a blast in the Spring. Numbers for sure with an occasional 15" keeper.![]()
Fished it a couple of times and found that the farther away from the ramp the better. If you can get all the way up to the last main leg it is better. Don't forget your white rat on top of any junk and also skipping White Super Flukes weightless under the boat docks for some qualilty fish.
Wow elnut where did you live when you fished Beaver lake? Beaver is still a fine lake. The weed beds on the back half of the lake are getting heavy and almost to the surface. In the spring I throw black and blue jigs, shallow cranks, and before this cold came back had 2 over 5lbs. on top water one afternoon. Beaver does have a 10 h.p. limit on it, I see more bass boats with kicker 10's now and some idleing big motors but be aware that if caught the fine is something like $275.00.
I really enjoyed fishing beaver, but now that I don't own a jon boat anymore, I shy away from it. I really agree with an earlier post on the idle speed only rule. However, if you let them idle, the urge to do a little more can be overwhelming for some. It's probably best the way it is. One bad apple....... you know the rest. If I still had that jon boat, I'd certainly still be thinking about Beaver. It does hold some quallity fish!!! Five pound fish are not uncommon. A friend of mine took an 8 lb largemouth on that lake!!! I'd recommend a trip or two down there. Good fishin'.
One year they did do the idle only thing on Beaver but the temptation was to much for some and they ruined it. At one time they wouldnt even let ya fire the big motor to load on trailer.
Maybe I jumped the gun, but I was assuming the Beaver Lake in question was the one just outside of Lawrenceburg in Anderson County KY. I was born and raised in Winchester Ky and lived in Frankfort for 6 years before moving out to the jumping off spot in Boonville. If this is the Beaver Lake in question, I fished it 10-15 times total. When the moss and junk gets good and thick later on, a White Rat fished over the top is deadly. Never caught any Huge fish out of the lake but the 12-15" fish are PLENTIFUL. I believe the biggest I caught was around 3 1/2 from under a boatdock on a Weightless White Fluke. I use a spinning rod, 10lb test, and sidearm skip them way back under the docks and go from there.
Yes sir we are talking the same lake--there is nothing like the frog fishing at Beaver it can be a blast at times but things have changed over the years-- I have spent a lot of time at Beaver one year i fished it 50 times yes a lot of trips--people used to call my wife the fishermans widow lol-Had a lot of great days on that lake and got alot of bigens too--8.9 -7-6.5 and alot of 6s and a lot of 5s----Now for you -have you made it out fishing yet--are you better now?--gl to you when you do make it out man..Maybe I jumped the gun, but I was assuming the Beaver Lake in question was the one just outside of Lawrenceburg in Anderson County KY.
