Well BW we was down there tuesday night had 0 smallies but did manage 3 keeper LM all on jigs. The smallmouth would not cooporate at all. Water temp was 57 degrees so this cold spell has dropped it quite a bit. Fish seemed to be holding tight to cover if you can find any. Laurel is one of those lakes where it is either feast or famine. Water was pretty dirty in the river section, stained in spruce and in rogers creek and crystal clear from grove to the dam. Don't know what is up with the smallies but you should be able to find the largemouth pretty easy. What we caught were buck bass I believe no big females. What are you planning on going after and what day?

Well I am headed down to Laurel this weekend for the first time with some friends of mine. Anybody know whats biting right now??? I would like to fish for walleye but I know absolutely nothing about it. Any help?????? Oh, and are there any good catfish in Laurel?????

i am prefishing for a tourney i have there april 19. i am in a small bass club up near huntington wv. i have only been to the lake twice so i dont know much about it. i really don't care if i win the tourney or not i just don't want to drive that far(3 1/2 hrs.) and not have a clue what is going on. i would like to prepare a little and try to catch a couple anyway. i have only had 1 keeper in 2 trips there and a bunch of short fish.i will be going after them smallies, but i will go up in the river section for those largemouths also. were the largemouths in the clear water or muddy?? thanks for any information dc basser

Smallmouth are on the nest, as well as Kentuckies, at Laurel. Tough time to fish that lake right now. Bank cruising largemouths are about all you can hope for. My suggestion is to have a well charged trolling motor battery and cover A LOT of water.

last weekend pittsburg tournament took 5 sm 22.25 lbs first place 2nd place 4 lm 1 sm 19 lbs plus 3 place 5 sm 18lbs plus & i think 6 place was 15 plus yea they on the nest & not biting lol
