Crappies Spawn On KY Lake

Did the Crappie get a chance to spawn out before winter set back in the last couple of weeks? I always get to Kentucky the last week of April and by then they are done and back out into the lake. Did this cold weather move them out and do you think with some warm weather will they move back in to finish spawning? Charlie

Read Dave Stewart's report. The big black crappie run is over and it appears that many of the whites are done as well. I was there last week (record cold and 45-50 mph winds) and there were some folks catching the whites in about 17' of water along the creek chanels in the bays. We caught a few. Some with fat egg laden stomachs and some with flat stomachs. I know, some could have been males but I doubt that the handfull of 13" plus fish were males and they had flat stomachs.
