Elwood Winter

Well guys everyone keeps asking whats up with the weather. Well I will tell you. You have heard of Dogwood Winter, Blackberry Winter, etc. and etc and etc. Well this year we have a new one. This is officially been named Elwood winter for there is only one man on the face of this earth that could cause such a spell in the middle of April. Yep that's right ol Elnutsmalljaws himself. I do believe he is making up for lack of FnF this past winter. LOL let it go Elwood Let it go. The only other possible explantion I could think of is global warming LOL Hope it warms up soon.

There is a method to my madness about all this ARCTIC weather. My buddy Chunknwind and I will be leaving this Saturday heading to KY Lake for 1 full week and maybe 2 full weeks if the fish co-operate. I figure another 2 weeks of the 40's and we will fish the first week at KY for Greenfish and Brownfish crankin and then pack it up and head on to Dale for the second week of FNF action. I bust my shoulder December and then bust a Hernia at the end of January so I only got 9 actual days on the water FNF fishing this winter and that was just not enough to suit my standards. It has been 40-50 days on the water in the dead of winter at Dale the past couple of seasons and I have some catching up to do. So, I had a little chat with Momma Nature a few weeks ago when it was in the 80's and the water temps were darn near 70 and explained that I have not wet a line since December and will not until late April so she took care of me. She took the fish off the spawning process and threw a wrench into the climate. At this rate, we may be FNF at Ky Lake next week as well then again, I put fresh line in 5 baitcasters last night and tied on all 5 and none of them look like a 1/16 oz Duck Feather with a little Blue, Chartruese and Red mixed in and none of my rods were 2 pc, 10 footers. I see Cranks, Spinners, Baby Brush Hounds, Traps, and just maybe a Buzz or two being the ticket next week with the rising water and warmer temps. Either way from April 22 to at least the 29th and possibly May 6th, it will be my buddy's new Triton, nice 2 BR cabin on the lake, and all the Ky Lake water we choose to venture. All the drooling and wishing I could have been fishing for the past couple of months will have to be done by somebody else during that period. I am just hoping my Hernia surgery and the Titanium mesh that was put in my abdominal cavity will hold up to the pounding of the boat, especially if Momma Nature sends a little wind from the SSE or especially the NNW. I guess I better know where the hospital is just in case for it won't be the first time my buddy Cliff has taken me to the hospital for a busted Hernia during a fishing trip, see Barren River trip last March for those details.

Ah but finally, I believe Mother Nature or Elwood is finallt going to let the warm temps come back around for me to get out as well...I ain't been out since the 31st of March and it will probably be the 22nd before I ghet out again...Got to have that warm weather for me to venture out on the water..... But hey the Doc done gave me a new pain Medication patch I wear on my back /surgery scars and it seems to be doing a nice job. With luck and maybe even a big heat pad to drop down my shirt around the small of my back I'll get out on the water....

Funny thing is the other day I heard somebody cussing me and I was by myself at the time and could not figure out who it was or what I did. Now I know, sorry. I talked to Momma Nature last night and she assured me the Alberta Clippers are gone until November. She also mentioned that Ky and Barkley Lakes have no fish in them for they have all went thru the dams and down stream and for all fishermen to stay away from the lakes beginning Sunday April 22 until after Cliff and Elwood leave as to not interfere with their Hawg Catchings. She said if you must go fishing at Ky and Barkley during their trip, you are to stay away from their honey holes and any other fishing spot that they choose to inhabit or she will bring back the Alberta's in grand fashion.
