when you sink a cedar put a block in the tip and 1 or 2 on the butt depending the size. The thing i learned at nolin and rough is to cut the bottom flat if you don't and you drop the on a sloping point when the current runs they will roll and pull the block making the hard to find when you fish, you almost have to put them in when the water is down so you can rock them down too.I have found too hard woods are better for sinking.
i have used pine and i don't think the fish like them near as well as cedar.
