Going to Laurel for the first time. Any ideas of baits to use. i understand it is a deep clear lake. Which end of the lake is better to fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would use dynamite if it was me.LOL Just came off that lake and let me tell you it has give me fits. However if your looking for smallies stay up toward the dam and if your looking for largemouth go to the river section. The river is pretty stained right now and once you get on up into it it's down right muddy. The water has came up a lot in the last week. We have thrown everything but the kitchen sink the last two times and had only two fish. Also if you are planning on going this weekend I'll warn you that there is a big tourney going on saturday with about 120 boats expected and then next weekend the BFL will be down there. A lot of pressure on thos fish right now and the boat ramps have been full everyday.
Makes it hard to find a hole to throw in. Good luck whenever you go.
my club has a small tourney there next weekend also. i fished it last weekend and we only had one fish and one got off. it was HARD. however i did see a local weigh inn and one man had almost 20lbs of fish. it was really hard to believe after fishing so hard. he blew everyone out of the water at the weigh inn though.
Laurel was tough today as well with a LOT of traffic.
