heading down for some night time action (FINALLY!!!). Plan on fishing my butt off throughout the night. Thinking if I wear down casting I may take a break and pull boards a little. Has anyone tried attaching a glow stick to the flag (or anywhere else) of a planer board? Just wandering if the benefits of being able to see your board relative to the bank negate any spook factor. I usually free line a shad behind the boat while casting and usually always pick up a bonus fish or two which got me thinking of concentrating on bait fishing at night (after my arms feel like they'll fall off from casting).
Also, any suggestions on where to focus - sections of creek / main lake / etc. - or current times the fish are feeding would be appreciated.
If anyone sees a glowing planer board in Indian feel free to give me a shout.

Yo, yes I use then at night all the time. Couple ways to attach. Some Off-Shore brand board flags got 2 slits on them. 1.5 inch mini Type A Cyalume glow stick (buy here, cheap http://www.castawaylakes.com/OmniGlow.html) fits right in that slot. Orient in the slot so the middle of the glow stick is on the inside facing the boat. I run green on the starboard side, and yellow on the port side, cause you and I know when you maneuver tight, boards can get all over the place, and this lets ya know what's what. It also tells you at night, which rod to grab, as if 2 green and one yellow are up, you know what side is missing a board and on what side of the boat. Second method, use a piece of clear surgical rubber tube, or a small piece of that tube you run water to an ice maker with. Drill hole 1 inch deep it top of plastic on the Off Shore board, just beside the flag. Stuff in that hole a 2 inch piece of the tube, and secure with some Marine goop. That, sir, is now the glow stick holder, and it does not foul on lines when boards swing in or out. Ya know them weighted catfish bobbers, about 8 inches long? Tape a piece of the tube to the top 2 inches of the bobber, stick the glow light it. Attached the lighted bobber as a slip bobber rig, that will let the line drop to 10 foot. Attach slip shot, a small one 3 foot above the hook, then "free" line that puppy out the back when crashing the banks. Here's why, when you bump the trolling motor to move up the bank, the line pullls thru the bobber, and bait jumps up to the 3 foot mark, as you slow, it settles back deep. So each time you move the boat to get a better casting angle, you may draw a reaction strike. And again, its easier to see where the heck the free line is when its lit up. Last, if the lures are going slow, take that same free line rig, shortend top stop to 6 feet, and leave the bottom at 3 feet. Then chuck it up tight on the bank. Move it out a foot and wait, then another foot, keep doing that slowly, as each move makes the bobber disturb the surface, and jigs the bait. When the bobber stands straight up suspending the bait, just wiggle the rod tip 8-10 times to make the bobber dance, then pull it toward ya 2 feet, and again let it settle. Commotion on the surface, followed by a bobber wake on the surface, followed by a sinking bait is a recipe for a " serious bobber banging". I might be down this Sat and Sunday night, look for a pontoon, burgundy, and you can tell where I've been if you find longnecks with glow sticks in them. Last offereing, got 5 foot up the free line, and just tape the glow stick to the line. Green glow, really makes a shad sides stand out when ever he wiggles, and that can be like putting a Mc Donalds sign up in the middle of a lake at 3.am. Chow time!!!!!!
I did not write this at 4.am?!?!?!?!Whats up with that......I got a life......I don't write posts at 4 am.....I got better things to do.........at 4 am I was sharpening redfin hooks and changing the oil on my trailer hitch ball. Gaaaaaaah.....like some one would really have no life and write posts at 4 am......sure.....uh-huh.......
Well deserved Andrew. Although casting is my favorite way to tangle with ole linesides it's been so long I don't care how I catch em. Bob you're a hoot; I'll be somewhere around Indian. Wifes making me take the dog so maybe I'll put a couple glow sticks on him and you won't miss me.
