Barren?
I am heading down to barren this weekend for the first time this year does anyone have any information on how the fish are bitting and what the pattern may or may not be? I will be bass fishing and most likely l\aunching out of the state dock, I will also probably be tarketing some crappie. How is the water clarity in Petterson creek and the temperature, does any one have any iformation about the scaggs creek are or browns ford, I know that I am jumping around a lot but I have the itch bad and am willing to run the lake looking for a good catch. thanks guys.

Re: Barren?
I am heading over to Barren tomorrow afternoon. I was there last week and the water in the creek was fairly stained in the upper end to lightly stained nearer the main lake. I don't know what it will look like after some of these heavier rains but I don't think it will be any clearer than it was last Friday.
If I can remember, I will give you an update tomorrow after I get in. I have heard some fairly good reports from earlier this week.

Re: Barren?
Lake has good color in places. it is still low and not much water in Peters or Skaggs, watch running stumps abound and lot of floatsom in the head of creeks, cranks, spinners, etc are working, lot of muskie below the spillway in the river though. Good luck.

Re: Barren?
If you want to catch a mess of crappie, go up into the creeks and find some wood. Last Friday they were abundant in 3 to 4 feet of water. Today I went further up into the creek and what I caught were around wood in 10 to 12 feet of water with an occasional fish up shallow. I did catch a better run of fish today. Probably threw back four or five where last week it was around 50%. The bass were slower for me today than last week. Maybe it's just me.
The water wasn't nearly as muddy as I expected. Really good color.
Be very carful up in the creeks as there are lots of floaters and stumps just below the water surface. Best of luck to you.

Re: Barren?
Went this weekend, caught some good fish. 3 Hybrid ranging from the ridicously small (10 inches) to 3 good sized 2 1/2 pd fish. What a fight on a ultra-light! Bass were okay, did catch one 3 1/2 pdr friday in a mouth of a cove. Saturday, about midday until dusk, bass were chasing shad against the dam. I've never seen anything like it! I've never seen a school go any more than 15 minutes, but this one went for hours on end! Caught about 15 bass (most were 12-15 inches, one 2 pdr) all on curly tail grubs, in a span of about 8 hours, all in the corner of the dam by the rock wall. Other than that, saw no crappie, and couldnt even get a hit anywhere else than in the dam, or in that little cove by the dam I caught those 2 larger hybrids and the 3 1/2 pdr in.
Did see a fish jump in the wood near the dam that looked exactly like a muskie. Got a good look, I couldn't believe it. I know there are a few muskie in the lake, anyone else have an idea of what it could be?
