I think the Hot Spot map will work in the Lowrance unit. Take the chip out and see if it works. I not sure which region you will need for Ontario.

I just purchased an LMS 522c iGPS. I want detailed maps of the KY region as well as Rainy Lake in Northwest Ontario. What needs to be purchased to have this?
I currently own a Garmin hand held unit with Hot spots maps that cover the areas mentioned above. I assume the Lowrance will not be compatible with the Garmin Hot Spots CD.
Any insight would be appreciated!

I did not receive a chip with the unit. The hot spots map was downloaded to my hand held Garmin via a computer connection. The Lowrance does not have a port that would allow me to connect it to the computer.
I have been on hold for about thirty minutes now with Lowrance on the telephone!!
Take your hand held unit to an electronics shop and ask them to match up a cord for you to be able to hook it to your PC with some type of USB cable. Then see if you can download the info back onto your PC and then transfer the info onto a blank MMC or Digital Card for the new Lowrance unit.![]()
i have the same GPS unit and i looked into getting a chip and it seems like i would have to purchase 2 chips to get all of the lakes in Kentucky because the regions split kentucky down the middle. If you get something worked out let me know.
All KY lakes are on the navionics chip "East" Navionics just released a new 07 version of all their chips with all the lakes from last years version but with some lakes now in HD with 1' contours. In KY I think there are 4 lakes with 1' contours The twins, barren and DH, I think. It retails for 149.99, money well spent. You're going to have a hard time reformatting from garmin to lowrance, just pick up a nav. chip.
Thanks for all of the responses. Based on a conversation with a fellow at Bass Pro in Clarksville and the previous poster, I guess I will have to purchase two chips...OUCH If I would have done better research I would have purchased a Garmin GPS/sonar unit.
Go to navionics.com and look at their hotmaps, you can see which map you need, the east will cover anything around here but if your going up to canuck land, thats another chip, getting expensive eh?
Ok, I bought the Map Create CD, reader, Chip card, USB cable from LEI Electronics for $ 108.93. This is the New 07 version. The reason it cost over $ 108.00 was because I bought the Reader as well. But now if I just wanted the CD and other items that come in the standard Package it would have only cost $ 67.00. That's right...I ain't kiddin.....
The $ 108.93, was for everything, Tax and shipping as well....... This company sells for Lowrance Products...Check them out....
