Does anyone have a report on the cumberland river for striper? Stephen
I was told by a well known guide that stripers in the river flat out $uck right now...this was last week when I talked with him. Last week the river was up high and flowing strong.
Did your guide friend offer any explaination for why the striper fishing is off? (high water, too early, global warming, etc...). Did he/she offer any prediction for the coming weeks? I need some hope man!!
No he didn't really say when the stripers would be back on in the river again...He said trout (as of last week) had been decent to good, but he said the stripers in the river were TOUGH at best, and if a striper were to be caught it would just be a bonus. This is all in and around the area of Burksville and up stream from there.
I have fished the river plenty for trout in the fall/winter, I have heard May can be a good month for trout if/when you can catch a low flow.
If you all decide to go please post here and let us know how you did.
