For the most part I beleive the spawn is over. There may be some straglers left, but I think the false spring we had messed alot of timing up. As for the missed fish I too have had that problem. Had a couple of what felt like good fish hit and carry a Tiki-stick, set the hook, be 3-5 seconds into a good fight and turn it loose. Bring the bait in and the hook had never left the bait. And it was skin hooked at that. I think in some situations a bass bites down on a soft plastic so hard that they'll hang on till you just take it away from them. Very frustrating indeed.

to say the least. I don't think they were taking the bait off the bed and when i hooked a few their tails were very clean (no red or raw fins). I started catching them once i hammered them as they hit the bait instead of waiting. I even saw a few of them take the bait since the water was 1-3 foot. A couple of times i let them actually pull my rod down before i set the hook and i realized after a few of those dry hooksets that wasn't working. Anyone else had this happen? What did you do? Oh, the fish i did catch were 14-16 inch fish so i don't think they were Redeye or small bass.
