    C-River Update Request

Heading down for a long weekend and was wondering if anyone fished Cumberland River this past weekend and can provide an update (bite, water level, water color, etc...)? May also spend time night fishin on the lake, so additional update on that would be helpful. Saw a couple of threads related to the night fish. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

River is up and running hard. Will be until they get it down to 680. Fishing has been good when the generation schedule is not pushing you down the river at 60mph! Watch the weather reports for the area...if it's gonna rain then you may be stuck fishing the lake all weekend.

Thanks for the update fellas. Looks like it will be day-to-day as the week progresses. Worst comes to worst, night fishin on the lake ain't a bad plan B. Thanks again.

Thumbs up Re: C-River Update Request

If You Fish The Cumberland River With A Fly Rod... Don't Read This!!i Have Fished The River For The Last 20 Years And The When It Is High Like It Is Now Is The Best Time To Catch The Bigger Browns. Find A Creek Dumping Muddy Water In And Fish The Mud Line. The Trick On Fishing The River In The High Water Times Is To Go The Submerged Riffles With Logs And Throw Big Baits (#11 Rapala, 6 In Rogues And Deeper Diving Crankbaits (bass Style) And Work Them Fast). I Like To Put A Hand Controled Trolling Motor On The Back Of The Boat And Run It In Reverse To Slow The Boat. When You See A Big Fish Come Up On Your Bait, Don't Stop The Bait, Try To Take It Away From Them, They Can't Stand It. People Think Trout Only Feed In Clear Water, But They Are Easer To Catch When There Is Less Visibility (brown Trout Feed Mostly At Night) And All That Run In Water Brings Food Into The System And Gets The Big Ones Feeding

I Have Fished At Night A Couple Of Times During The Low Water Times, But Not When The River Runs High... It's Too Dangerous! The Last Time I Knocked A Hole In The Boat. The Fog Gets So Thick That A Q-beam Won't Cut It. If You Plan To Fish At Night, I Suggest You Find A Good Riffle And Anchor. The Fish Will Come To You. The Rockfish, Sauger, And Walleye Also Move Into The Shallow Water At Night To Feed On The Stockers.

Most Of Our Trout Fishing Is In Mid To Late Summer And Early Fall.
Winter Is Hit Or Miss, But I Concentrate On The Grass Beds In Winter (the Grass Beds Are Not As Healthy As They Used To Be Because Of People Wading On And Uprooting Them). The Trout Will Lay In The Dark Patches Of Grass On Sunny Days.
