Split rings on Walking baits?

That's exactly right on slobbering all over the knot before you draw it tight....If you don't wet it somehow before drawing it tight, it will weaken the line severly and probably break off on the hook set...... My first time I tried the knot I didn't get it wet enough and the line snapped as I was pulling it tight with the tag end.......

Never had a snap fail. I use small ones in the creek and larger for stripers. I've had good Hybrids hit baits on the small ones and not had a problem.

I have fished for 30 years using the Snap Swivels with Crank baits. They work. Never had one fail on me. Had a knot or the line break but not the Stainless Steel Swivels or the Brass Type swivels.

The only problem I ever had with using snap swivels with crank baits was getting the crank bait to run straight. Just tune the eyelet on the crank bait's bill by turning it clockwise or counterclockwise to make it run straighter. I use to tune up all my baits at a private lake before heading down to KY lake to fish for a week at a time.

My dad caught many big bass on KY lake using snap swivels. So you can be sure that they will work. They are tried and prov-en. I like them because it's easier to change crank baits. We would often change baits as Dad have four large 6 tray type tackle boxes full of various crank baits and many other artificial lures.

These days if you are going to only use one type of bait then I would check out the loop knot or the Rapala Knot mentioned above in this thread. I need to learn how to tie that knot and use it with my jigs when fishing for crappie on ultra light stuff.

I use to bass fish all the time but started using ultra light for more actions. Then went on to fly fishing for trout, bass and bluegills. For many years I only fished with an ultra light spinning outfit. Now I fish mainly for crappie using various methods.
