    Hey RoadToad

I've been wanting to try the trout stockings around Louisville for some time, but hadn't got a chance. When do they stop biting due to death from summers temp. You don't haveto give me all the tips you all have been using, but a few wouldn't hurt.

    Re: Hey RoadToad

I first discovered the local trout stocking last fall at Miles Park #4. It was about a week after they stocked it, and if you fished minnows on light tackle, it was pretty easy to catch a limit. This spring Fisherman Park pond #3 got stocked twice, and I started using more artificials, and there were tons of 10 - 12 inchers to be caught on spinners. Really though, think of anything that trout would normally bite on (minnows, spinners, crickets, wax worms, red worms, etc.) and they'll bite on them in those ponds. Of all the trout I've cleaned out of those two ponds, I've never found anything in their bellies but PowerBait (which is pretty gross in a fish's belly) and minnows that look just like the ones I've been fishing with. I don't think there's much forage at all in those ponds! I think the main thing that has helped me catch fish there on days when other people weren't was just what most everybody on this forum would say is just common sense; using lightweight, low-vis line. I found some 4# Trilene Sensation at Fisherman's Factory Outlet for $2 a spool, and I love it! Right now Fisherman Park is a mass of overgrown weeds. Last time I was at Miles was last week, and I caught three trout using drop-shot salmon egg clusters. They're sure slowing down, and as you mentioned, I guess there'll be a summer die-off at some point, but I couldn't tell you when. But Miles Park #4 and Tom Wallace are also stocked with bass and channel cats, and even had hybrid stripers put in last fall, although I suspect those all died off.

Good Luck to anybody who goes out there. I think the Fishing In Neighborhoods Program (formerly known as Urban Fishing Program) is a great idea. I hope they keep it up!
