    Re: Fly Fishing in/near Louisville?

If you're ever in town in the spring or fall, there are a few small ponds around that are stocked with 10-11" trout, perfect eatin' size. There are bass and bluegill in there, too, but nothing of any size, and with the recent warm-up, the bite there has slowed way down. They're not wadable, either, but people do fly-fish from the banks. Probably not worth your time unless you're back this way in October. Other than those, Otter Creek is definitely the closest trout fishing, and probably the closest wadable water, unless you want to go after stripers with OneMoreCast (which would probably be a blast, actually!). And the General Patton Museum is right down the road from Otter Creek, in Ft. Knox. It's really interesting.

If you happen to be a baseball fan, definitely go see the Louisville Slugger Museum. And the Louisville Bats, triple-A affiliate of the Reds, are in town from the 5th to the 12th. Slugger Field is a really nice ballpark. Both of these are a few blocks from the Convention Center.

In any case, welcome to Louisville!

The Louisville ones are the top two listed, in Jefferson County. Miles Park is around 25 miles from the Convention Center. Tom Wallace is probably about 10 or 12. But like I said, don't expect a whole lot from either one this time of year.

Thanks Toad, that's really helpful. I am a baseball fan--Red Sox, actually. It's practically a death wish living 20 miles from New York City...

Hey do you know Tony Soprano, I'm a big fan, LOL. Fish down at the Falls of The Ohio or on the river ya never know what's gonna hit those flies so hang on if you go. Chuck good luck with those rims, I really didn't do anything and if I wasn't a fast food junkie I would have been home already, LOL.
