Hi Fellas,
I'm coming to Louisville next week for a one-week conference. I'm an avid fly fisherman and was wondering if there's anything wadable in the Louisville area. I won't have a car but I can rent one if there's good fishing near by!![]()
Thanks a lot. I look foward to visiting your State!

Otter Creek, near Louisville in Meade County has smallmouth and some trout this time of year.
Big, Tim's right otter is close...we also have alot of smallcreeks in the area such as Floyds fork,Baregrass, and Harrods creek and depending on how far you want to travel Elkhorn creek is a fine smallmouth fishery some of the guy's on this site can help you with locations to fish there, I fish mainly in the Ohio with Onemorecast and by the way hey Doug there is a guy down there that fishes the turbines with a flyrod but dang them gar are thick down there now lol...anyway Big ,Ky. has more running water than any state but Alaska so we can put you on some fish when you get here...Chuck
Rat, thanks for that encouraging reply. When you say "close," how close are we talking? I'm staying in downtown Louisville--don't know where exactly, but downtown somewhere near a convention center or something like that. Also, is there really a corvette museum in KY? I heard that but I don't know if it's true or not. If you're ever in town in the spring or fall, there are a few small ponds around that are stocked with 10-11" trout, perfect eatin' size. There are bass and bluegill in there, too, but nothing of any size, and with the recent warm-up, the bite there has slowed way down. They're not wadable, either, but people do fly-fish from the banks. Probably not worth your time unless you're back this way in October. Other than those, Otter Creek is definitely the closest trout fishing, and probably the closest wadable water, unless you want to go after stripers with OneMoreCast (which would probably be a blast, actually!). And the General Patton Museum is right down the road from Otter Creek, in Ft. Knox. It's really interesting.
If you happen to be a baseball fan, definitely go see the Louisville Slugger Museum. And the Louisville Bats, triple-A affiliate of the Reds, are in town from the 5th to the 12th. Slugger Field is a really nice ballpark. Both of these are a few blocks from the Convention Center.
In any case, welcome to Louisville!
Here's the URL of the website for the lakes:

The Louisville ones are the top two listed, in Jefferson County. Miles Park is around 25 miles from the Convention Center. Tom Wallace is probably about 10 or 12. But like I said, don't expect a whole lot from either one this time of year.

Thanks Toad, that's really helpful. I am a baseball fan--Red Sox, actually. It's practically a death wish living 20 miles from New York City...
Hey do you know Tony Soprano, I'm a big fan, LOL. Fish down at the Falls of The Ohio or on the river ya never know what's gonna hit those flies so hang on if you go. Chuck good luck with those rims, I really didn't do anything and if I wasn't a fast food junkie I would have been home already, LOL.
