Re: New Ramp Open at Barren River tomorrow

Why do you think they were off a week. Wouldn't it make sense to have it open for Memorial weekend since it is the first real summer weekend that people get out. It hasn't rained down there in forever so what was the holdup. Just the core doesn't know how to schedule stuff i assume I mean why should the lake be down 8 foot still anyway why don't they flood it in the spring up in the creeks like Dale does it would have to be better for the spawns as well. Just ranting and wondering

I was told by a Engineer that does work direct for the corps that the contractor rewarded the job was late in pouring the concrete on the ramp and they had to treaten to pull it from him to get him off his bread and butter (pouring house foudation) job, to pour it. This maybe not ture.
Which is why is was delayed.

I'm not sure why the new ramp wasn't open this weekend but they sho coulda used it!!!!!! I was told they were waiting for the road down to it to be blacktopped. As for the lake being still down 8' it must rain for water to rise!!! The dam has been shut down to a trickle since March 15th. I'm not sure what your talking about flooding the creeks upstream in the spring like they do at Dale Hollow? Water runs downhill & there are no dams upstream to hold water to let out. That's why the lake is 8' down.

It was supossed to of been open last Thurs. but they held off due to low water. They were afraid someone would back down too far. We just haven't had the rain. The river below the dam is pittifully low due to trying to hold water in the lake. WE NEED RAIN!!!

Well,,,,,we fished our thursday nighter out of the new ramp tonight. The parking lot is plenty big enough and the ramp is nice and wide and got good traction. But I don't think anyone liked it, the dust is bad, will be better once it rains and that is a dark hole once the sun goes down. There are "0" lights down there right now on the ramp or parking lot. Its got real potential and once its paved and they put some lights up it will be real nice. We decided to have our Sat nighters back out of Pennisula for now. Don't know if the guys running the Monday night or Thursday night is gonna move them to Pennisula or not.
