Re: Come to the BFL Weigh in today and support fishing in Kentucky.

I attended the launch on Thursday morning and am glad I did...Friday morning I watched from across the river over at Duffy's landing (I work in Indiana and didn't want to arrive to work later than usual on both days). Due to other obligations I'm not attending the weigh-ins although I wished I was able to at least attend one of the three days, but it's not in the cards for me. I could definitely felt the excitement in the air as the guys in the boats were definitely pumped for the event.

I'm not a tournament guy and I didn't think I'd ever hear myself saying this about a tournament because I think there are way to many of them going on now days, but I agree with Jim Dicken in that if we can support the local tournament (in this case) then we should do so. Neither day had much of a crowd turn out for the launch in my opinion. If anyone here goes to the weigh-in please report on this thread and let us know how the crowd attendance was.

I'm not sure why Larry mentioned NASCAR on a fishing thread...why is that Larry? As for me, my name is Chubminnow and I fish and I do not keep up with NASCAR at all.

I don't think that I would want to drive 2 hours to watch them weigh in a few little fish. What did it take to lead the first day??? 6 lbs and change??? Sorry that is not worth my time and $$$. Now maybe if they were fishing for bigger fish, such as stripers it would be different. I rarely catch less than 15lbs of bass when I'm striper fishing on Cumberland with lures, so I just don't see the big deal.

Re: Come to the BFL Weigh in today and support fishing in Kentucky.

The last time a major Bass Tournament was held on the Ohio River, it was a light weigh-In as well. George Cochran won the Bassmasters Classic fishing the same Ohio River with I believe a little over 12 lbs of Bass. So it's not uncommon for so few fish to be weighed in at this time of year.

Now if the BFL would have been say done in late April or early May, then the weigh-In's would have had more fish. This BFL All American is not run like the Elite Series is. The Elite Series is scheduling what seems all their Tournaments for the first half of the Season on bodies of water that have the fish still spawning. Easier for the Pro's to catch spawning fish than Post Spawn fish like what's happening for the BFL Tournament fishermen.

I've fished several Tournaments on the River during the time period I just mentioned and believe me there were a lot more fish weighed-in.

So everyone have a nice time if you can make it to the weigh-In, root and holler a bunch to show support for the BFL for bringing their All American Tournament to Louisville.

.Its the competition....not the small weights....and from past expierience...a 15 lb striper is small by cumberland standards...LOL

OH..I agree that a 15 lb striper is small by Cumberland standards...but it still out pulls those 7 lb smallmouth that we throw back. I have caught a 51 lb and a 41 lb from cumberland and a bunch over 30.
