I have been using 20# Big Game line on my 6'6" Spinner Bait rod (Curado B5 reel) and I have not been real pleased with it. I was thinking of replacing it with a flourocarbon line. I was wondering if others use flourocarbon line for spinnerbaits and if so, did you like it or not?

12# STREN BUDDY![]()
I wanted to make sure I didn't lose anymore fish to broken line. So I now use green 14 lb Braided line. It casts great, and seems to disappear in the water. The thing I like best, is that no matter what size fish I hook, it ain't going to break my line and I can horse them in if need be.![]()
Grumpy,
I am trying 20# test Vanish and so far so good. Solid hookset even on the LONG casts. No breakoffs or overruns either.
Thanks for the feedback Guys.
DJD, that is exactly the line I was thinking of using. I'll go ahead and try it.
Anyone else tried flourocarbon this way?

I have not had much success with the fluorcarbon. I have had many breakoffs. I can't remember which show I watched the other day, but it was talking about different lines. Fluorocarbon does not fair well with a lot of abrasion or strong hook sets. Maybe for a spinnerbait or crankbait or possibly trolling would be fine where there would only be stretch. Fishing a worm or jig is not recomended with this line. It also depends on the water clarity you are fishing. Clear deep lakes the line would fair better, but murky conditions I believe line does not play as much of a problem. The best line I have found as far as duarbility and strength is P-line. I have been using it for several years and will not use anything else.
I started using 17 lb Bass pro shops flourocarbon on my spinner bait rod and really like it so far. I also use the same line in 20 lb on my soft plasics rods and have had very good luck with that also.I have not had much success with the fluorcarbon. I have had many breakoffs.
