Here is a little tip I have used for a few years now, works great. Replacing the new rope.

First cut the knot where it goes thru the bracket. Next, take some wire heat shrink tubing and feed it over the rope. Move the tubing up the rope, and retie the knot. Then pull down the heat shrink tubing to the knot. Lightly heat the tubing until it shrinks around the rope.

This will protect the rope, and the rope will last longer. This works well!

But I even took it a step farther. While in there working with the rope; add another piece of rope a little longer than the main rope. Tie a knot on both ends after it is thru the mount. Take the secondary rope and lightly wrap it around the main rope, semi slack. Stick the knot (handle end) into the slit on the side of the handle (if it has one) or just put tape around it to hold it to the main rope so it's now out of the way (not hanging loose).

This rope is used as a secondary (back-up) if the main rope breaks. The secondary (back-up) rope is not used at the same time when you pull the main rope. The secondary (back-up) rope has no tension it.

Now when the main rope decides to break; I still have the secondary rope to use.
