You are going to love it. Is the chainsaw to fillet those fish? I pegged you as a catch and release.
Good luck with your move.

As some of you know I am in the process of moving out of the big city and to a small town. My house is located a few hundred yds from my beloved Elkhorn Creek(North Fork).
Last night I loaded up some stuff from my Lexington home to take down to the new place. My wife and child are already living down there. I'm just staying here through the week to clean up, pack up, and fix up..
Anyway last night after I got down loading my truck I decided to head "Over the hill".
I fired up my lawn mower( I have a trailer attached with chainsaw, weedeater, battery, and fishing pole) and headed down the driveway. It's a short 100 yds to the railroad tracks and about 200 yds down the hill to the creek.
We had some hard rains come through the day before and I was hoping for some good flow to wash out these impoundments and oxygenate the water. I did find some color, but no real flow.
The rig I have in my trailer is a 7.5ft MicroliteUL 4lb line and a APB handmande small creek crank.
I made 10 casts and caught 3 small LM. Couldn't get a smallie to bite.
So I fired up the tractor, went back up the hill, through the gate in the yard, and parked it in the garage...
Now that's living...

What a life you will be living while at home not working. Reminds me of my childhood days, when I could walk about 100 yards to the creek behind our house and fish. Never caught anything real big, maybe catch a crawdad or two sometimes. But you wouldn't believe how excited I was to have something just pulling on the other end of my line at the time........![]()
Billy I'm glad you are happy in your new place, you deserve it. Having your favorite place to fish in your own back yard is a good problem to have, LOL. How much ground do you have there, it sounds really nice, I'm happy for you.
Have you ever considered adopting a fifty year old I come with built in grand kids all nicely equiped with fishing gear and their own tackle boxes a cajun wife who cooks out of this world. Also I do fish filleting I do not consume fish though.
I'm not sure what goals in life you've been working towards, but it sure sounds to me like you've been successful...a BIG congratulations to ya Billy!
Hey Billy...for what ever reason, I'm getting this image that your all's annual stream floatin', string pickin', lickor' samplin' rodeo will take place right there smack dab in your backyard...Man, what a way to live!!!
