    Question Ever Wonder

Ever wonder whats really the point of working your life away just to have a house, car, furniture, bills, etc. when all you really want to do is fish. Seems like just about everyone here works, or is retired, and we all sit around our computer, just to get a glimpse of someone out there fishing, or going fishing and what they are catching, or anything to get our minds off of work, and the daily grind. I sit in a office all day, looking out the window wishing I was out there fishing. It seems like the days drag on, and the weekends fly by, the time you do have to fish on weekends, everyone else is out there and its packed, and like everyone here has discussed, common courtesy is a thing of the past, so its not always fun to fish with 100,000 of your closet friends on a lake. And we all work so much, you turn around and you are older, your kids are growing up, and they have other interest other than hanging out with you at the lake. It just seems that time flies by, and you dont really have the time to stop and smell the roses, enjoy what God has gave us, because we are constantly chasing the almighty dollar. Just a thought as I sit here in my dungeon, and wonder if anyone else out there is doing the same. Sorry to drag on, but we should have more time to fish, and less time to worry about money, work, so on.

I've thought many times about becoming a government baby, they all look fat and sassy to me. Then I could fish all day, hunt in the winter and drink beer and eat when I'm not doing those things. Only problem is Mrs mhall would whipp my monkey a$$ for doing it, oh well who need's her anyway, Cumberland backwoods here I come.

    Re: Ever Wonder

I finally quit my job of the last 4 years putting 60-70 hrs a week. I now am now in the Real estate and mortgage business and do not have a set schedule. My schedule is as flexible as I want it to be. Before I was lucky if I got to fish Friday or Saturday. Now I am fishing 3-4 days or nights a week. It has been a dream for me and I am making just as much money as before and working half the time. I think to many times we get caught up in our jobs and are afraid to take any risks. I took the risk because this is where my heart led me and I have not regretted a day since. I get to spend more time on the water and with my family.

I totally agree. I'm at work right now (on a break), and wishing I was outside somewhere. When I was younger I thought, "Yeah, working at a data center, with all those computers and technology, I'll be in heaven!" Now, I'd give my eye teeth for a job that would pay the same (or close), and get me outside. Oh, well, I guess I should count my blessings. I'm lucky to have a (fairly) good job; lots of deserving people don't. And I work 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 rotation, so I do get weekdays off, so I can do most of my fishing on weekdays when it's not so crowded and the tourney's aren't running. Still and all, my worst day fishin' beats my best day workin', hands down.

I sure wish I was doing more fishing. Since the first of the year, I've only gone 6 or 7 times. Every weekend these days seems to be filled with obligations plus now the weather has gotten so hot that it's not so nice to paddle the kayak. Oh well...maybe next weekend.
