Herrington Hybrids

Ok guys I could use a little help. I want to take a little trip to Herrington and fish for hybrids. Can somebody point me toward a good place to start? I'll probably be fishing early in the morning until sometime in the early evening. I'll be coming from Somerset and thanks in advance.

My first suggestion is to show up wearing that same suit you have in your homecoming picture you use as an avatar. From there .. it's all butta.

Herrington has always been hit or miss for me on the Hybrids. Summertime, I pretty much start at the dam and work up lake from there. Mostly have downrigged with bucktails (1/4 or 3/8 oz) and a 4 or 6 inch trailer. I rarely find them feeding deeper than 20 feet, though often over 180 foot of water. Put in a chimmy rock marina. You'll have a shorter ride through the no wake going that route. Also keep a rod rigged and ready for jump action. A lot of times its white bass, but Hybrids will hang with them too. Many people have a "launcher" set up (basically a popper without the hooks) with a short leader off the back (2 feet) and attach a 1/16 oz rooster tail (white) or small jig.

I took the father in law Sunday morning, We got into them pretty good. Got most of them on a castmaster in the jumps. Nothing huge but did manage a couple of 4 pounders. "Run the castmaster on top the water"
Also the plunker and fly works good as well, or just a white rooter tail.
Go towards the dam and just look for jumps. Like said above its kinda "hit or miss". If you are into livebait fishing, saw a guy that was catching some on life shad about 15-20 ft deep.

See, I know what I'm talkin' about. If it matches your boat then you need to wear it out there.

I've never fished Herrington, but talked to a guy years ago would throw topwater baits for them at night. Don't know much more than that. I'd like to learn though.

Not a problem, just bring it by when you get the chance,
Give me a shout if you want to try those herrington Hybrids one morning and we will go!!
I am going after them in the morning for a while, will let you know how we did.

[i havent fished down at herrington for them in many years but my wifes grandfather use too take me with him and we would go around the barrels and use a pet spoon and just nail them .we was down there one morning and that whole area was nothing but jumps it was awesome

Not so good, the "jump" never happend where we was at anyway. Ended up with about 15 total with 1 over 5lbs.
Did manage a few largemouth as well, none with any size..
Like said above "hit or miss", I bet in the morning they jump in the boat..
